我们很喜欢这里的博物馆和查看项目。模糊的相机很棒,我们还会很有趣也很值得一去。迫不及待想要去看看其他地方的国家。

Rekindling old memories

Just spent an amazing afternoon at the museum. It’s been a while since I last visited and was delighted that it exceeded my expectations from memory.
Wide ranging displays of artefacts from across the region, from prehistory to the present day.
Can I make special mention of all the staff today……..they really make the place truly special and are so welcoming.

A great place for all the family

When you are in Dumfries and want to find out a little bit more about Dumfries from the early days to when Dumfries became a royal burgh then the place that I'm about to review is the place for you, and that place is Dumfries Museum and Camera Obscura located in Church Street. I visited the museum today and had a good time doing the Dumfries Stories trail where I discovered things that I never knew existed. Overall I enjoyed my visit

Still using Covid as an exuse to close facilities.

I wanted to visit this Museum mainly to see the Camera Obscura. Unfortunately the staff do not seem to have pick up on the fact that the pandemic is over and this particular item is still closed! Local Governments need to stop using Covid as an excuse to reduce facilities.

A little gem for History lovers

Free parking and free entrance into the museum! The staff are very friendly, welcoming amd knowledgable. Some really interesting exhibits. I also got a free book for completing an activity trail. What's not to like? If your into history this is a must visit. Lots of fun activities for children too. I really enjoyed trying out the Japanese caligraphy.

Local history treasure trove

What a brilliant little museum! A bit of everything on display here - from stone tools to the recent wars. Thoughtfully laid out and something to interest everyone. Saw it by accident and called in - really glad I did, as I had an engrossing couple of hours here

Interesting local history

Great little museum, my grandchildren loved it, good selection of local history they found fascinating. The staff are extremely welcoming they loved the lego search and we will definitely return.

An outstanding regional museum with an array of fascinating treasures.

We were visitors from London, a bit stuck due to closure of Historic Environment Scotland sites (shame on them!). But this fabulous museum with some real treasures and highly knowlegeable staff made up for it. The Celtic, Roman and early medieval material is outstanding, including the astonishing water craft (one of which is the oldest ever found in Scotland) and the room of "sacred stones" which has some magnificent Roman and early medieval altars, grave markers etc. We also liked the innovative temporary exhibition on pestilence past & present. This museum is a real credit to Dumfries, beautifully preserved and the local volunteers were exceptionally friendly and welcoming.

Well worth a visit.

I was attracted to this museum by the plague exhibition but discovered an excellent and fascinating little place. Great range of history from the Bronze Age through much of Christianity in the area to our very own plague. The staff were very courteous and helpful.

So much to see inside this museum

Take time to look around the grounds at the various very old gravestones and the Sinclair Monument which is due to be restored and preserved in it's 180th yearThe grounds and gardens of the museum are themselves home to a number of interesting exhibits, including Covenanters' gravestones and a Russian cannon captured during the Crimean War. More striking, perhaps, is the Sinclair Memorial. This was erected in 1841 in memory of John Sinclair, an assistant naval surgeon who died (in a "mournful accident") in Hampshire on 26 October 1840. The day before his death he had won life size statues of Old Mortality and his pony in a lottery, and after his death they were presented to the observatory and placed in the building that still houses them today. Inside the museum are extensive Dumfries and Galloway artefacts, a glorious mineral and gemstone collection, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the Camera Obscura built in a former windmill is closed at the moment but can only add to the experience

Bigger than expected, everything from dinosaurs to victorian mouse traps

I could happily have come back several times to get around to seeing everything in this fantastic, free, museum!
We had a very warm welcome, and spent a delightful few hours exploring. Everything from prehistoric to Romans, to Vikings, to victorian mill works. Wondrous artifacts and a fantastic array of historical everyday items.
Don't forget to try on the dinosaur costumes or take a crayon rubbing of a fossil!
