一、基本信息
位置：爱丁堡老城的中心，始于爱丁堡城堡，终于圣十字架宫二、开放时间
全天开放；皇家大道作为一条历史悠久的街道，全年无休，游客可以随时前来游览。
三、主要景点
爱丁堡城堡：皇家大道的起点，苏格兰的标志性建筑之一，可以俯瞰整个城市的美景，并了解苏格兰的历史和文化。
苏格兰威士忌文化遗产中心：位于城堡山（Castlchill）上，是了解苏格兰威士忌文化的绝佳地点。
劳恩市场（Lawnmarket）：皇家大道上的一段，可能有售卖苏格兰特色商品的店铺和市场。
高街（High Street）：爱丁堡的市中心，商业最繁华的地带，有众多餐厅、商店和咖啡馆。
圣贾尔斯教堂：位于高街边，是爱丁堡最古老的建筑之一，可以感受到宗教的氛围和历史的沉淀。
修士门（Canongate）：皇家大道的最后一段，周围多是中世纪的建筑，路的尽头是圣十字架宫。

从别的城市来的话可以买railcard，本地人大多数用的是那个oyster card，但我是从trainpal上买的raildcard，虽然麻烦一点，但是便宜好多，在trainpal 上输入RC777E 就能有20%的折扣。便宜不占白不占啊

皇家大道在爱丁堡比较出名，这边有很多酒吧和商店，停下来小酌一杯也很不错。在英国待了半个月吧，全程坐火车，没想到这边火车是非常方便的。在trainpal买了railcard，最近输RC777F这个码还打八折，交通上来说是没问题的，希望能帮到来英国玩的其他小伙伴！

可以和家人朋友饭后来这条街转一转，感受一下历史，如果走累了找一家咖啡馆或者酒吧，非常的惬意。对啦，顺便给大家推荐我在英国时使用的交通，我在英国半个月都是坐火车，真的很方便，而且在Trainpal上购买railcard还有8折优惠，大家可以去试试哦，输入RC777F就可以领取啦。

皇家一英里即是爱丁堡城堡至荷里路德宫的一英里道路，如果要去爱丁堡城堡是必须要经过此路段，这段1英里道路是条比较斜坡的路，两旁有酒吧、礼品店、餐厅、也有传统苏格兰的建筑物，大街上有穿着苏格兰裙的人在吹风笛，充满著浓浓的气氛。

来皇家大道可以看到好多东西，长约1公里，有很多不同的商店和景点可以参观。我建议最起码要来一次，这边景点和饭馆都很多，总之就是有很多好看的好玩的好吃的地方。

皇家大道是任何游览爱丁堡的人必去的地方。从城堡尽头开始，一直走到holyroodhouse宫殿。享受风笛、风景、购物和一顿haggis或炸鱼薯条的午餐。通往城堡的路很陡，因为膝盖不是很好，我们的出租车司机可以把我们送到入口处。

“I am getting married here in May 2024, could anyone recommend places to eat after the ceremony? We havent decided yet whether this will be early afternoon or we wait until thr evening. It will be 15-20 people. Reasonably priced, we have some fussy eaters so we need a sensible menu. Italian is our favourite but open to see what is available. We are not from the area so any help is very much appreciated. Thanks for any recommendations.”

Congratulations! What a great city for a wedding ceremony! During our recent visit to Edinburgh, we discovered an amazing, fun restaurant, Duck & Waffle. They are located in the historic and popular St.James Quarter, a few blocks from the Royal Mile. The atmosphere and vibe would be perfect for a post ceremony meal. They are open literally all day everyday (9 am to midnight), take reservations, and have a very creative menu, which I believe would cater to your "fussy eaters". From what I recall, their prices are quite reasonable. If you look them up on TripAdvisor, you will see virtually ALL of their reviews are 5's, and they are rated in the top 1% of the over 1600 Edinburgh restaurants. if it were me, this is definitely where I would go for your event. How challenging is the royal mile walk? Is it steep? is it possible to avoid the cobbles? Places to sit along the way? I ask because one of my traveling companions has suffered a stroke and walks with a brace. He does pretty well on level ground but hills both up and down can be tricky if they are steep and terrain is uneven.

It's steep from Holyrood Palace to the Castle and you really have to pop in for a coffee or a drink to get a seat! Sorry but would not recommend it for your friend

The Royal Mile is free. It’s basically a long street that leads you to the castle at the top. There is an entrance fee to the castle but you can walk right up to it and take photos etc without having to pay.

The Royal Mile itself and the little closes opening off it is free as it is a public road. But there are charges for the museums that open onto the Royal Mile.

To get the authentic St. Andrews apparel, you'd most likely have to go to the golf course. That being said, it's a scenic ride from Edinburgh and well worth the trip!

Mary's close was not the hospital tour. That was only a tour of the Real Mary Kings close. Interesting nonetheless. There are no shops along the way of this tour though.

Definitely NOT August!! The fringe and tattoo are both around the Royal Mile and there are CROWDS of people. If you aren't interested in this type of event, which we were, I would book any month except August.
