Se siete nella zona la visita alla Dunfermline Abbey vale sicuramente la pena. Qui è possibile ammirare la parte più antica, dove ci sono delle rovine e la chiesa più nuova, visitabile anche all'interno. Un bel contrasto tra le parti.
Nella chiesa è sepolto Re Robert The Bruce ( in cima alla torre c'è la scritta King Robert the Bruce). La struttura è ben tenuta e nelle vicinanze è presente un ampio parcheggio (a pagamento).

The access and facilities for disabled access is a disgrace. We visited with our disabled daughter who is in a wheelchair and it was a humiliating experience eve though the staff did try and help

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review about the impact of the access to the Abbey on your recent visit.
Firstly we are genuinely sorry for any distress this caused you and daughter, our staff’s intention is always to help give access under circumstances that we have to work around with Scheduled & Listed monuments. The Church has a new ramp under construction to provide better access for not only visitors but also for the congregation. It has been a very long process as the building is ‘A’ Listed. We hope for this to be in operation later this summer and would be happy to welcome you at a later date. We will certainly reflect on the feedback you have given us.

An amazing place to visit. Saw the Royal Vault beneath the pulpit where the bones of Robert the Bruce are interred. His heart rests in Melrose Abbey. Quite a magnificent thing to see, and brings a lump to your throat. 🏴 The grounds and the old ruins are amazing and well worth seeing.

This abbey and palace are not to be missed. Sublime. The history that these walls hold is eye-watering, and the setting is stunning.
I had the very good fortune to meet a very lovely seasonal employee called Nan, who utterly brought the history and the walls alive as we talked and as she showed me how to view the buildings to the greatest effect: she is a complete asset and gem.

This Abbey was surely a highlight on our Road Trip through the UK. Firstly the architecture and secondly the history: Robert The Bruce is laid to rest here!
Dunfermline’s story stretches back to the 11th century – the time of Malcolm III and his queen, Margaret. Their son, David I, raised the status of the little priory to abbey in the 12th century.
It started as a priory back in 1070. The Romanesque pillars are surely a sight to behold. The whole abbey is such an impressive masterpiece.
The Abbey Nave is managed by the Historic Environment Scotland, while the abbey itself is not in care of the HES and is free to enter.
And be sure to enter the abbey: Robert I was interred before the high altar in 1329. His heart was taken on crusade before eventually being buried at Melrose Abbey. If you're interested even the slightest in (scottish) history, then Robert The Bruce's resting place is an absolute must-do.
A fantastic visit, we've spent a lot more time than planned. Surely worth it. Highly recommended. And make sure to check out the lovely parklands as well - just across the street.

Impressive building. Some good information displays.
Not easy to get in, requires a ticket for no apparent reason, steep ramp to the only open door - which states "do not enter".
Buy go in anyway.

The building is in amazing condition & well worth the 2h it was for us to have a look & have a snack whilst there. The cafateria is good value, clean & well-staffed.

Peccato che abbiamo potuto ammirare l'abbazia solo dall'esterno in quanto era chiusa, comunque abbiamo visto l'antichissimo cimitero.
