We had the best time on this walk. The trail is well-marked though challenging in places, but it is only about 3.5 miles round trip so very doable in a morning or afternoon.
You start at the upper car park in Glen Nevis, and the path goes up the Glen through beautiful woodland with occasional spectacular open vistas. It then goes into a gorgeous narrow gorge, which opens into a lovely valley with the impressive falls coming down and joining into the Waters of Nevis.
Absolutely beautiful walk, definitely to repeat when in the area.

Really worth doing this walk. Lovely gorge and waterfall to view on reaching. Plenty space when we parked but it was midweek.

Beautiful area and well worth the trip. Glen Nevis is a wonderful valley with excellent views and there are plenty of spots to kick back and relax. I managed to get many wonderful pictures during our afternoon in the area.

However, please be aware of the Highland code when visiting. We didn't make it to the top car park and people were double parked, parked right at the entry/exit to the car park and then parking in passing places or precariously near the edge of a cliff. Please do not do this, it is dangerous and selfish. I have a small city car so could manoeuvre round but for any bigger cars you'd be hard pressed. Large vehicles such as motor homes are not advised to travel up the single track road and again, I witnessed people do this. Also the road past the Ben Nevis Visitor Centre is narrow, twisty and bumpy so don't speed around it. Proceed with caution and you will be fine.

The lower falls car park is currently closed and looks like it is being refurbished. From here you can explore the lower falls which are beautiful, plus you can follow a route to Paddy's Bridge. Eventually you'll link back up to the top and can carry on to Steall Falls walk.

Please be aware this is steep and rocky, so wear sensible footwear and be sure to bring everything you need as there are no facilities up at the top.

initially we were going to walk from the lower falls but typical of local councils the car park was closed. however we continued on up a single track road with passing places every 50m until we reached a bigger carpark at the end of the road. The walk then follows an obvious path which is quite a challenge in places so should not be attempted unless you are sure footed. You dont need to be a mountain climber but some parts do require a good sense of balance whilst scrambling over rocks.
at the end you are rewarded with a wide open flood plain with the river at the bottom and the falls a short distance in front of you. For the adventurers there is a rope bridge which can be crossed but is quite high so need to have some nerve to get to the far bank with dry feet at which point you can then get to the very foot of the falls which was fantastic.
Round trip takes about 4 hrs for non climbers but worth every minute. Lots of midges so make sure you have you insect repellent or suffer the little bites. Also no facilities at the carpark or falls so take what you need with you but remember to bag it up and take it home for disposal.

On reading reviews about rope bridges / walking through the river, we nearly didn’t do this walk but are so glad we did. It’s a pleasant 35-40 mins walk each way and you can get very good views of the falls without the bridge or river crossing. My husband did go across the bridge without any trouble. I was glad of my walking boots and walking pole as some of the rocks en route can be slippery when wet.

Fancied a quiet walk and the waterfalls popped up as something to do. The lower car park is currently shut (would appear they are doing resurfacing works and adding toilets). The upper car park is small and was busy so people were also parking on the road up. There is a large distance between the upper & lower car parks and large vehicles can’t reach the upper car park. The path is easy to find from the upper car park. The walk is steep and slippery in places so I’d advise walking boots! To get right up to the waterfall you have to cross a wire tightrope or alternatively wade through the river. The tightrope wouldn’t be suitable for children due to the height of the hand wires. Getting on and off the wire at either end is also a little tricky. However if you make the crossing it’s wonderful coming right up to the waterfall. Once your done turn around and retrace your steps back to the car park. A wonderful walk if you are in the area!

At the end of a long drive down a country road, getting there is itself worth the effort. We did the walk on a wet afternoon, making some of the rockier parts of the walk feel tricky. Overall though it is not a difficult walk, with just a couple of rocky bits that the less agile might not enjoy. Well worth the effort however. The destination is a lovely bowl up in the hills, with a wonderful cascading waterfall taking centre stage. Although still only a stone’s throw out of Fort William, it feels you are in the heart of the mountains. Quiet when we were there, so a lovely place to look around you and marvel at the wonder of nature. We didn’t try the rope bridge across the river, but others did while we were the and seemed to have little trouble and lots of fun.

Worth the walk.

If you have a pushchair, or wheelchair, do not attempt this

Stunning views and very peaceful

The rope bridge is a must, if you’re feeling brave

We got there early and glad we did as busy when left. Park in top car park and follow path, would recommend wear walking shoes/boots as path narrow, slippery and rocky. After a trek came out to field and wonderful view of waterfall. Please keep dogs on leads and take poo bags and rubbish home, there are sheep in the fields. I was unable to go right under waterfall as unable to get over stream but rest of family went over tightrope bridge but only after a very kind couple showed them how it was done! Would recommend and enjoy.
