My husband and I had a wonderful hike through Glen Nevis with Dave. Planning the trip and communicating with him was easy from step one. Coming from the USA, being unfamiliar with the area, and being a novice winter hiker all led me in Dave's direction. We knew we were in good hands when Dave recognized that the weather that day was "totally rubbish" (i.e. strong winds and heavy rains) which made a Ben Nevis ascent not practical so Dave took us through Glen Nevis instead and we had a great time in less than ideal conditions.

We had a fantastic time and completed everything we were aiming to do, thanks to Dave.
He managed to fit in all the activities in the limited time we had, thanks to his great knowledge and fantastic capacity to pass on all he knows.
We still can't believe how lucky we were to get him as a guide and teacher.
We definitely will need a mountaineering skills refresher and surely will need more skills learning in the future and will be happy to use your services

Great 2 days with Dave. Winter skills day 1, gave us the confidence to tackle Stob Dubh on day 2. Judged the capabilities of 2 58 year old just right, and pushed us to a safe limit. Really enjoyable and great company. Thank you Dave.

Recently walked the Buachaille Etive Beag in Glencoe in winter conditions with Dave from the Highland Mountain Company. Dave was absolutely spot on as a guide and was very chatty and informative whilst on the walk. All the group ( 5 of us) were impressed with his knowledge which he was happy to pass on and we would not hesitate to use him again.

We had an incredible day doing a winter skills course with Dave in the Glencoe area. Dave tailored the day to our level of experience - we learned how to use crampons and ice axes and lots about winter conditions and what to think about before setting out. Perfect blue skies and knee deep snow from half way up were an added bonus!

A fantastic hike to the summit of Ben Nevis thanks to Dave and Craig. They made sure everyone in the group had the correct equipment (inc crampons and ice axe) and led with a good pace to make sure we could reach the summit and return before it got dark. I felt safe at all times and would definitely recommend the company and will happily book with them again if I'm back in the area.

With no experience hiking up mountains in winter conditions we decided to book a New Year’s Day guided hike up Ben Nevis. We were not expecting the most perfect conditions; no wind at all, blessed with sunshine and calf deep snow.
Our guide David was extremely knowledgeable on the history of Ben Nevis and kept a comfortable pace for us to get up and down the mountain. The hike included use of crampons and axe and David made sure we had them attached correctly at the halfway point.
We had the most incredible day and start to 2023 and would 100% recommend The Highland Mountain Company.

Fantastic New years day hike up Ben Nevis! Dave and Craig lead us up and they were both fantastic, sharing knowledge, given advice and telling us the history of the mountain. We were very lucky with the weather, with minimal wind and sunshine at the summit and nice snow underfoot - both Dave and Craig ensured we all felt comfortable and safe throughout and well equipped for the conditions.
Would definitely recommend and will be using for future adventures!

Was picked up by David at our B&B and taken to the base of the mountain. He had contacted us prior to our climb so we were fully prepared. A very patient man to lead two pensioners up the the mountain in 3 1/2 hours 😀. We experienced sunshine, rain, hail, and snow but we made it no problem. David was an amazing guide, not only leading us but also giving us a lot of history and information about the mountain and climbing in general. I am happy to recommend this organization. Dave, my guide, was very helpful and flexible in suggesting alternatives should the weather deteriorate overnight. He managed the pace on the ascent and descent so that we were able to complete in just over 6 hours. Dave ensured that we were properly equipped for the conditions, unlike the vast majority of the other hikers who were very wet and cold. Dave was very informative and a great guide. I would strongly recommend using Dave if you are contemplating going up Ben Nevis
