Our first and last visit to this restaurant. Fair to say that the food was excellent, but the problem was the attitude of the one waitress (evening of 5th August 2024) with dark hair and wearing all black. After the main course she tried to remove my wife's napkin even though she had here elbow on it. When she brought our ice cream's, I asked if I could have another napkin. When she brought me a napkin she asked, "Is there anything else I can get you?" I said "No thanks" and she exclaimed, "OH GOOD then!" and muttered under her breath as she turned and walked back to the bar. I'm 73 years old and I know when someone is being sarcastic and smarmy. I complained to the very nice tall gentleman who took our money and he apologised, but I wasn't confident that this complaint about her attitude would be passed on? If the dark haired waitress had not been there, then this review would have been 4 stars.

Food, service and atmosphere were all superb! Only very high quality local ingredients were used and beautifully presented!
Salted caramel expresso martini was a taste sensation!

Really poor service - so slow for having plenty of staff on. No drinks menu provided when we stated that was all we were in for - I wish we were provided with one in hindsight as I was charged just short of £17 for a very average medium sized sauvigon blanc (you can buy a bottle online and in stores for £24), this could have come with warning in comparison to the other wines on offer here.
As we got moved to the courtyard we were forgotten about here, service was super slow and it was a waste of time visiting by the time we got our drinks - asking for the bill came with a 10 minute wait also. Coming from a hospitality background and working in bars myself this was an extremely poor experience with clearly poor management in place for what could be a great bar. Pricing FAR TOO high for somewhere like Forres - you get charged less in the centre of London.

Actually, ok food. But half of the menu had 'run out' and this was on a Friday teatime... poor diners after us. And they had ran our of gin....until our next delivery. Hay ho. But never the less we still spend over £200 and only 4 of us. Not cheap. That's all I can say really. We made the most of it. Probably won't return.

Family Birthday celebration. Excellent service from start to finish. We were made to feel really special by the whole team.
Perrier Jouet to kick off was excellent.
Starters were delicious. Muscles especially good.
Mains. Steak, Chicken, Pork Loin were all delicious.
Pudding. Sticky Toffee and Chocolate Pudding.
Rose Pinot was lovely.
Highly recommended.

Lovely hidden gem in the middle of Elgin, down a little alley. On holiday to the area, the Drouthy was recommended to us. It is a lovely looking restaurant/pub with plenty of outdoor seating however being the evening we sat indoors. Food delicious-we opted for the “specials”. There also appeared to be live music outside. Only complaint is that the service was not as good as it could have been - waited too long for our gin, which when it did arrive was not as we’d ordered, and no one came to take payment until we’d asked three times, but I think it was because they seemed particularly busy as the staff were delightful.

Fabulous friendly bar/bistro in heart of Elgin up side lane.The food was fabulous and friendly efficient staff .Our waiter was Callum who was also great at making cocktails. We were on a family visit to Elgin but we will call in on our next visit. Only criticism was wine is way too pricey.We live Cambridge and is much cheaper by the glass than the Drouthy.

Nice ambient pub/restaurant only had drinks hot chocolate 2 gins 1 tonic 2 bloody marys the bill £31.50 seemed excessive although Bloody Marys were very good. Had a look at the menu seemed pricey for area starters £5-£10 oops hope you last.

This could be a very good establishment if;
They knock the prices down a bit, signage to the toilets upstairs, unlock the disabled toilet (or place a sign on the door explaining what's going on?) and show the costs of items on the menu.
The food was excellent. Well done the chef.

Hi Joanna, we love dogs and have an outside area with awnings and heaters where they are very welcome. We don't however allow dogs inside the building.

Hi, I'm really sorry but just got notified about your question - half way through the Tuesday in question.
We open at 8am and serve breakfast from then. Lunch service starts at 12 until 4pm at which point our evening menu comes on and last orders are just before 8pm.
This applies 7 days / week. We do not take reservations for our downstairs bar menu.
On Saturday evenings we run a restaurant upstairs which has a fixed price table d'hôte menu (4 starters, 4 mains and 4 desserts). This runs from 6pm until last orders at 9.30pm. We do take reservations for this dining event, by telephone on 01343 596000 or by following the link on our web site.
