Had a very relaxing walk in the grounds and around the Abbey. Enjoyed looking at the architecture. In the Chapel lit a candle and was very moved as it is nearly a year since I lost my father. A very comforting place to be.

Pluscarden Abbey, which was established as a Valliscaulian (later Benedictine) House in the 13th Century in a beautiful secluded setting near Elgin, fell into disuse and ruin after the Scottish Reformation. It is been steadily rebuilt over the past 70 years or so and is now, once again, a Benedictine monastery. Visitors are welcome at all times (from the first daily service at 4:30am 365 days a year!) and you can get to 'see the monks' worshipping or going about their daily activities. One can admire the monks' commitment but would they not be doing more good supporting the vulnerable in the wider community? There is a gift shop with mostly religious literature and devotional items.

This sweet functional abbey is such a delight! Brother Giles was our guide, and what a kind heart! The space is beautiful, and I'm so pleased that this place exists in the world. It's being reclaimed in bits and pieces. It was definitely a highlight of my trip.

this is a beautiful abbey ,still run by the monks here ,there is a lot to see and you get some really good pics ,there is a nice little gift shop here ,i got myself a bottle of apple juice ,made by the monks here.it is well worth the journey to visit.

Stunning Gregorian Abby set in peaceful surroundings. Stained glass windows are beautiful. Quiet place to walk and reflect.

Beautiful historic medieval benedictine abbey.

Wonderful experience planning to go back. accommodation was excellent A wonderful place to either go for a day, but better still to stop over have me time and a committee meeting with yourself about your life with the Lord

I've been here many times and I always enjoy my time here. My grandfather is buried here and it's just such a beautiful place with a lot of history and care towards it.

Went to visit the Abbey expecting to be able to enjoy a quiet place to sit and contemplate, The Abbey church was impressive but no real area outside to sit and relax. Rather disappointing.

Hello, is there bus route to the Abbey or would you travel to Elgin then taxi?

Sorry no bus route that I know of. Taxi would be expensive from Elgin as it is a fair way out. A car would be best way to travel to the Abbey but it is worth it.
Can I take my dog if she is kept on lead?

Yes there was a man with a dog when we were there just keep it on a lead as they have an old cat there which wonders around
