This country park is fantastic for the whole family, dog friendly, pram friendly (in the main grounds) lots of longer walks and trails for anyone looking for more.
Baby changing facilities in the cafe, the cafe also has a dog friendly section.
Farmers market on a Sunday with fresh produce, cakes, coffee and the usual stalls you would find and much more.
A great day out!

This is a beautiful place and the house is amazing however I will give the cafe a miss in future. Coffee and tea served were not good and the ladies who served us need to get a different job as they were both miserable and did not want to be there. It appears there is a lack of interest with the staff in general none of them seem particularly happy to be there.As for the quality of food and bad service in the cafe this has been highlighted on numerous occasions in previous reviews to Laura Cleland (The Manager) since 2017 and quite clearly has not been addressed as there are still ongoing issues.

Visited the country park with two children aged 8 and 10.
First of all it's free.
We took a walk through the woods and by the river, it was beautiful and peaceful and the kids enjoyed exploring.
They had cake in the cafe and spent another hour in the play area.
Definitely worth a visit and a relaxing way to spend a day.

Beautiful place for walking. We love taking our wee one here, she enjoys the nature, scenery walks taking it all in. Plus side she gets great exercise and gets exhausted. Cafe average, older staff need to be kinder to the younger ones, bring them on not down. Love the the square area of grass at the bottom dealing more exercise running about with a ball.

Visited the cafe at lunchtime. Good soup and sausage roll. Clean and tidy, and even a note on the tables saying you dont need to clear up after yourself!

40p/KWh. It is now 70p/KWh. Additionally, they have recently started charging £30 if you stay for an hour or longer.
Since the railway station is a 4 minute walk away, and they charge 40p/KWh, with no sanction for time, the operators have made an I’ll-judged and greedy decision (imo).
I used to come to Chatelherault often and have spent a lot of money in their café and gift shop, but no more.
Very very angry.

Had a great 2 hour walk at Chatelherault today.
After getting back to my car it then took 80 minutes to leave the park.
Traffic was busy due to the market , but the traffic management they had in place was making things worse.
In the event of an emergency there's no way any emergency vehicles could have gained safe access. This made me wonder how they ever got a permit to fir the market.
The park shouldn't be given any large events until they have made it more accessible.

Positives. Great walks, fantastic kids play park, lots of parking and easy to visit by both public transport and car. Well maintained grounds.
Negatives. Cafe. Two female members of staff, one called Sharon I believe. Asked about soft serve ice creams (advertised on big billboards, will upload a picture if I can) and told ‘we don’t do them……go tae the gift shope they got corrnettos and stuff yeah’. We did find a big freezer in the cafe that had lots of tubs of ice cream but it must have been invisible to the staff.
Asked for two rolls and sausage. ‘Naw, that’s only for breakfast’. Not signed posted anywhere.
Red velvet cake. Dry as an Egyptian Pharaoh’s arm pit.
Flat white coffee. You know…….you just know when you look at it in the cup and the colour is like dish water and the moment you pick it up and it spills that it’s going to be a bad coffee. Well it was. Bad. Don’t know why the staff bothered with the pantomime of using the machine when a kettle and instant coffee would have produced a better beverage.
Tune/cheese panini. It looked as though it should be good but wasn’t?! Baffles me. Bread hot on the outside with the burn marks you would expect but the cheese wasn’t melted and it was barley warm inside. Couldn’t finish it, honestly confused me.
Myself sad my family will visit again certainly but will not waste any effort in the café area.
They got the pot of tea correct, I guess it’s simple enough.
Tea bag. Hot water. Pot. Combine. Serve……..think I just wrote them an SOP.
If the management team respond don’t use the ‘seasonal’ excuse for the lack of ice cream. It’s summer.

Lovely place to take a walk with your dog or take the kids to the park. The scenery is outstanding and just a great place to visit.There is a market on some weekends and a cafe inside where the foods great the service i recieve in there is impeccablefrom all the staff but there two girls shona and kirsty they are brilliant at there job.I have been visiting here for 10 + years and will continue to do so .

We spent a very pleasant 2 to 3 hours at the park. Plenty of parking. Enjoyed lunch at the cafe - reasonable prices. After lunch walked round the park which was lovely in particular the walk along the river. Would be a great place to bring the family for a picnic on a warm summers day.

There are seats nearer to the house. The flat area we picnic at has no picnic benches or seats. We take a picnic blanket. No, there isn’t a bandstand.

Trails and play park are open year round although ground work improvement through 2018 has seen some trails closed during works (Large notice board at the visitor centre details these.)
Cafe and gift shop opens 10-5

Would you beable to get married by a Scottish humanist society celebrant here in the grounds somewhere? And take some wedding photos the wedding party is only 4 people plus the celebrant who performs the marriage and a photographer it would be very subtle and would not disturb anyone else's day
