A delightful evening to kick off my year living and studying in Dublin! Our storyteller was a great orator, and the history behind various mythological creatures and dwellings was so intriguing. The Stag's Head is a great pub in terms of atmosphere (and drinks!) for this experience, though the noise from the main bar did carry a bit to where we were downstairs. Overall, very happy with the night and have already recommended it to other friends!

I was really looking forward to this because other tours we've taken have provided tons of interesting information. But the group listening was spread throughout tables at an upstairs of a bar, making it very hard to hear the speaker when he turned his back to us. There was no center stage and he was never in front of all of us. Furthermore, he frequently forgot his train of thought, making it hard to follow the story line. Perhaps different venue, using a mic, and notes to stay on track would be helpful.

I am so sorry that you had difficuly hearing the speaker when he had his back to you and we will endeavour to address this . We do try to provide lots of fascinating information on irish folklore and the storyelling culture and I am sorry to hear that this was not your experience . I hope you enjoyed the rest fo your time in Dublin.

The storyteller session is very enjoyable. The atmosphere of the Stag’s Head Pub lends itself well to the event. The storyteller explains the history behind the early beliefs and helps set the stage for the myths and legends.

Johnny was brilliant and all of our guests loved his stories. We hired a venue which he suggested for a corporate event with guests from all over the world and everyone came away saying how interesting it was.

My daughter and I had a wonderful time. Johnny's stories were so good. It was a great evening. I loved hearing all about the fairies.

Incredible night of Irish magic! Jonny was a fantastic storyteller, so captivating, funny and knowledgeable. The time just flew by and we learnt so much. Jonny answered all of our questions and I would recommend this to anyone visiting Dublin

Johnny was absolutely amazing! Great fun!! We loved every second! And are proud to say the very next day left Dublin and we were doing a tour of horse farm and asked the local girl about a tree all alone in a pasture. We asked if it was a fairy tree. She didn’t know what we were talking about. She was young. But another local in group said ‘absolutely! You can’t cut down a fairy tree it’s bad luck.’ It was a white thorn!! We told the girl she needed to include that in her tour. It was great!!

I see some listing that have this experience at the Brazen Head. This is a different location. Is it the same experience just a new location? Or are there 2 different shows, 1 at each place?

I noticed the location has changed to O'Sheas on Talbot Street. Can anyone comment if this venue is as good as Brazen Head?

It wasn’t bad but I think the Brazen Head made it a more well-rounded experience in terms of atmosphere. And I think the Brazen Head food was better as well.

Is this every night? Is it usually recommended to make reservations for The Brazen Head in general?

The Brazen Head doesnt need a reservation. It can get crowded, but you should be able to find space to sit or stand. The storytelling definitely needs a reservation. We booked on the day itself, so that might be a possibility for you too.

Do we need reservations for the evening of food, fun and folklore? I have emailed, but no reply. There will only be 4 of us, we don't want to just go for dinner...we want the "whole experience"!! Thanks for your review which has helped make me even more certain that this is what I want to do during the short time we'll be in Dublin!!

It is at Brazen Head just outside of Temple Bar. Google maps says it’s about a 20 minute drive and a 50 minute walk from where your staying.

They had a vegetarian option on the menu, which I had. It had Brie cheese on it, however. I am sure if you contact them ahead, they can accommodate you, as they are a full service restaurant/bar. Have a great time in Ireland!
