Cassidy’s is a great pub but if you’re going to see rake the ashes I wouldn’t bother. Probably the rudest “musicians” I have ever come across. Can’t tap along with them because they are clearly that unprofessional, that it puts them out of rhythm which they feel they need to say (very rudely). We were told, “if you don’t stop tapping “buddy” we’ll leave” which I found very unprofessional. At the end of the day, people having a drink in the pub don’t think they’re doing any harm tapping along to the band, then to be made a show of by being told to shut up.
Over rated band !!!

My friends chose this place on a Sunday night, and let me know where to go. I was a bit behind the group because I had some things to do before going out but on arrival on Cassidy’s I was trying to find them. I was let in alright at the front but a bouncer inside the bar started sectioning parts of the bar off. I can understand this as the building begins to fill up, but my friends had a table with plenty of space for myself. The bouncer was an older fella, and didn’t let me through. When I told him my friends were back there, he disregarded me and told me to bring them out to the front. I was texting my friends when I started seeing the old man let any amount of women through. I then asked again if he could let me through after I saw around 8 people leave the section of the bar my friends were at. He really didn’t want me going through so I was stuck stranded.
Really disappointed with this experience.
I have been to a lot of the pubs and bars in Dublin and I have never had an experience like this.
Definitely will not be going back.
Go to the bleeding horse, or the hairy lemon instead.
Bleeding horse is just across the road from Cassidys and has very respectful staff and a much better atmosphere.
Hairy lemon is on Stephen St lower, and is more of a trad experience with great charm.
Don’t waste your money here.

A great pub that’s really big inside with a nice outdoor area at the back if you smoke. Excellent guiness and very efficient bar staff. It was busy when the boxing was on but never had to wait for a drink. Went back the next day for a guiness which was brought outside for me then the barman came back out with a stool for me. A lot of bar staff in my home town should be sent to Dublin for training to show them how it’s done. It’s a pity they don’t sell food but plenty restaurants and cafes round about.

What a great old bar! The fixtures and bar itself are beautiful and kept up to maintain the rich wooden look that they are. We strolled into here early one afternoon, and found ourselves the only ones in there, just the bartender! We enjoyed a bit of banter with him, and he showed us the picture of Bill and Hillary Clinton enjoying themselves in the pub. Only drawback is that there is no food except small bags of crisps. More people came in later. We enjoyed it, and would return if just needing a drink.

Doesn’t look like much from the outside but it’s a nice large bar inside. We stopped in here to watch a 6 nations game recently and got 2 seats at the bar close to the big screen down the back. There are loads of other tv’s in the bar to watch matches on.
The pints and service were both very good. A busy bar with a good atmosphere on a busy street.

Homophobic upon hearing I was a member of the lgbtq+ community they refused me entrance and accused me of being drunk and not talking correct

I used to really love Cassidys and would be in there 2 or 3 times a week. Haven’t been there in a good while now though and was back in for the England/Ireland 6 nations match. The pints are as good as ever, bar staff efficient but there’s is some old lunatic of an owner/manager who, as soon as the match was over, came out ranting and raving about having the bar stools 2 deep at the bar (which they weren’t). In the middle of his rant, he started talking about how he had given undertakings in court that stools wouldn’t be 2 deep in the bar. It was the most surreal experience ever and not in a good way. Needless to say, I will not darken the door again. The price of pints should not include this level of abuse.

We had a drink here after dining in Pickle. It was beautiful sunny evening and we got a great seat in the window. It's a lively pub with a great atmosphere.
