We had a great day out thank you

We had a great day out thank you. The only slight negative was it would be better if there were a few more signs which way to go and maybe a couple more maps, or a paper map on entry. There was plenty to keep the two kids, 11 + 13 amused. There was plenty of parking, a well equipped play park, interesting mill talks with two guides. If you follow the arrows to the right there's a really nicely designed garden, the kids enjoyed watching the caterpillars on the brussel sprouts. There's a lovely little stream you can either choose to cross using the bridge or the rope bridge and boulders. The cafe was lovely, with very friendly staff, who were eager to help my daughter with her list of intolerances, best millionaires shortbread (except nan's) + delicious ploughman's lunch box. There are llamas, Shetland ponies, donkeys, goats, sheep, pigs, horses, guinea pigs + cute rabbits, so fluffy mum thought one was stuffed and the other was a cushion!

Nice enough place , friendly staff , good for a few hours , perhaps not all day . Unfortunately our weather was horrendous so probably would have been better if we could have been outside more .

Bumper Day Out For All The Family!

This was a wonderful day out for all the family. Plenty for the kids to run around and look at; plenty for the adults to see or get involved in.
The outside play area was the best we've ever seen - it includes a maze, little wooden houses, animal themed play equipment, wooden rope bridges, trampolines and slides, etc.
The cafe was reasonably priced and I applaud their wide selection of gluten free and dairy free products.
The artisan area, mill wheel, nature trails, bridges, sensory garden, mud kitchens were a delight to stumble across.
We enjoyed the tractor ride - the bumpier, the better!!
Play barn probably needs updating (for reference: West Lodge Farm Park, Northampton).
Parking was easy.
Overall entry price was reasonable.
We will return!!

Lovely place

What a fantastic place for families with young children. The outside play area is worth the visit, however there is a play barn, animals, tractor rides, cafe, camping, picnic areas. If you are in the area then you won't be disappointed.

Interesting visit

Really enjoyed the visit yesterday. The mill is lovely but was a little disappointed that the mill rooms with 1940s displays were not open, as had visited before and were looking forward to see them again. The rest of farm was lovely to see, all the animals are very friendly and come up the fence to see us. The artisan courtyard was all closed, could walk around the courtyard but nothing open, the blacksmiths, chocolatier, cheese maker all closed. That was disappointing. Other than that a very good visit. Would have been 5 stars otherwise

Wonderful surroundings and buildings. Too few animals.

Our first visit with our granddaughters, 3 1/2 and 11 months. The surroundings are beautiful, with the lovely old buildings well kept and a circular walk round the site. Our older granddaughter loved the play barn; we had to drag her away! Criticisms by others of the age/state of the equipment seem unfounded. Yes, there were some running repairs, but at what point must you scrap it all and start again?
We didn't use the café so cannot comment.
Our main negative was that there were very few animals; a great many of the pens were empty.
We will probably go back again sometime. Not enough to put us off.

Mostly rubbish. Some good bits

Ok place to visit. Outside play park is amazing. Only bit worth going to see. Artisan crafts looked really good too. Word carving, forge and chocolate making. Disappointing animals. Play barn very old and worn. Annoying how most things are extra while in there. Had to keep telling my son as he didn’t get it. River play area just a stream. Great fun in a stream but as for the play bits very old and rubbish. Wouldn’t waste time or money on this place.

Outrageous and scandalous pricing for what little you see

We attended as two adults and one 5 year old and our friends whom were two adults and their 6 year old.

We took our time to walk around but not very many animals that could be seen. (One of which, a pig, was severely limping).

There wasn’t any talks about farm animals, farming or any other associated aspect.

The cafe stopped serving things like chips by 2pm despite being open until end of day and were serving other hot food such as toasted sandwiches.

Ice cream you had to go to one side of the building and then double back on yourself to pay despite being a card machine at the ice cream kiosk.

The only decent thing was the outdoor play area. The indoor play area is great but two other doors were left open, which meant you could not be sure your child was safe from running out themselves.

In other words we have paid a total of £57 for our two families just for them to play in a park.

Outrageous and scandalous.

Lovely place but what happened to the gift shop?

This is my third visit here but the first in 5 years. There have been various additions such as an excellent play park for kids and artisan art and chocolate shops. (There is a cheese shop but we could get in because there were workmen there.) The cafe is clean and well stocked.The big problem is what happened to the gift shop? Last time I bought some lovely honey and jam and was looking forward to buying some more but all there is is an overpriced toy shop. There are no food items at all! Plenty of animal toys and plastic tractors but that was it! Really disappointing and would appear to be a big lost opportunity as the friends I was with were also looking for some gifts such as honey. I also heard another couple commenting on how sad it was that there was only toys being sold. It was not a gift shop by any stretch of the imagination and this certainly affected my rating.
