QUAD Derby is a great place to visit. I went tonight for the cinema with my boyfriend but I also visit regularly for the café and gallery. The tickets are super cheap - even better if you are 16-25 as we get £5 cinema tickets, and that price can’t be beaten at another cinema in Derby. It was lovely to have the option to go and watch an old film too, not just the newest ones out. John especially went above and beyond to make our experience great. He moved our seats to the big comfy sofas as the cinema was quiet and when I spilled a drink he was so kind and helpful. Overall, my favourite cinema to visit and I hope to keep visiting!

The Quad has a relaxed vibe, friendly staff, delicious food and lovely facilities. Their events are wonderful and long may they continue to run.

The Quad is a lovely little place in the heart of Derby. Absolutely wonderful staff & great services. Many of the big films are screened here, in a smaller environment (and comfier seats honestly). A favourite event of mine that they hosted, was an overnight showing of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. John's usually the one to scan our tickets, and he's never been anything but lovely. Dietary requirements are catered for in the cafe, and staff tend to be very knowledgeable. Exhibitions and cultural activities are a huge part of the Quad too, so there's something for everyone 🙌.

Visited the cafe for food, oh my goodness what has happened? An hour wait for food, tables being slowly cleared but not cleaned, just very unsatisfactory.

Lovely place to watch movies. Very good selection from big pictures to small productions. Tickets much cheaper than showcase. And staff a lot nicer. The worker john was very lovely and accommodating

Just to say massive thanks to all at QUAD for making this the film buffs ‘go to’ cinema in Derby. In the past month I’ve seen: ‘Copa 71’ (new documentary about the Women's World Cup in Mexico which soccer’s governing bodies tried to ban - one of the original Lionesses was there and gave the audience a first hand account!); ‘Dear England’ (National Theatre Live screening of insightful and very funny dramatisation of Gareth Southgate’s England managership); ‘Perfect Days’ (Japanese film about the life of a music loving Tokyo toilet cleaner and his family & acquaintances….brilliant!); ‘Back to Black’ (the events surrounding the seminal album by Amy Winehouse and featuring Derby’s very own Jack O’Connell - who is patron of the Quad!).
The Quad has been a fantastic asset to Derby and the wider area, and long may that continue. Its team of hard-working staff make sure that all the visitors enjoy their cinema / gallery / cafe experience. Especial thanks to ushers John and Mandy who great us with smiles every time they scan us in!

We have been going to the Quad regularly for 3 or 4 years mostly to visit the cinema. It's a lovely venue, the seats are big, deep and comfortable with plenty of legroom. We can take up a glass of wine from the bar and sometimes stop for something to eat before going in. The prices are incredibly low (It's so good there that we have joined as members) and on Monday's it's only £5 for all the great films. All the latest films are here along with Arty and foreign ones which we have tried for interest and some have been extraordinarily good.
There are frequent showings of National Theatre Live shows which I enjoy more than the full live experience, including the return trip to London. Also, there are visits to blockbuster Art Exhibitions. They are great if you like art but would prefer to go round with an expert and not have to share the viewing with half of Europe it seems trying to see each picture. These cost more but nowhere near the cost of a train fare
If you have an tinys or companions with dementia some of the films have special showings just for you where you can relax in similar company
On the other hand, for a jolly good film with a cup of tea/coffee the Midweek Treat takes the biscuit. Carefully chosen for an easy Wednesday afternoon with an introduction from a knowledgable chap. Just enjoy

On a wet and cold day a mid afternoon visit to the Quad to watch Dune Part II on the Sir John Hurt screen was a perfect way to spend a couple of hours and it was thoroughly enjoyable.

The Cinema is great for neurodivergent people like myself. Not as many adverts, not as loud, friendly atmosphere and lovely staff. I love going to the cinema alone and it can sometimes be a struggle, but I have always felt safe and comfortable going to the quad. The cafe is also amazing and a brilliant menu suitable for all dietary requirements.

I always have a lovely time at the Quad, it’s great to see a film at a very affordable price and I love being able to see independent and arty films with a small audience and very kind and helpful staff. Thank you to John who served me my drink tonight!

Hello - Cinema 1 aka The Sir John Hurt Cinema is our largest screen, this cinema holds 237 people. Cinema 2 holds 160 and The Box is slightly smaller, with seats for 60 people. Hope that helps!
