Very interesting. Lots to see. Lots of floors. The staff were very helpful. The gardens were well kept and worth seeing. Just lije stapping back in time.

Don’t be put off by the scaffolding around the exterior of this Georgian house, as it does not detract from the experience of the visit.
Rooms are open on all floors of the house and it gives a good impression of how Georgian houses were laid out and the lives of the inhabitants.
It is free to enter and the staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Despite undergoing a major refurbishment there is plenty to see and enjoy at this very interesting 18th Century house/museum. The staff were friendly and very helpful, particularly Mel, who when we explained we had a particular interest in the Joseph Wright portraits, opened the Dining Room shutters and allowed us to view them from the right position. The house and the exhibits have period atmosphere and the information boards in each room are clear and evocative. We really enjoyed our visit.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here! First time visiting Derby so we used Google for directions and found this place with no bother. Beautiful building with stunning architecture. One of the staff Paul kindly gave us tour and information about the Pickford family and buildings history. Very informative. All staff we came across were very helpful and super informative. We also spoke to another staff member Lindsay and she was very good as well. There is no entrance charge but we made a donation. There a nice wee shop as well on lower level which was good too! Would recommend really enjoyed our visit!! Thank you 😊

This was an incredible find. The Georgian house has been left more or less as it would have been when it was built. The dining room is beautiful with a wonderful family painting by Joseph Wright of Derby, a table set for a sumptuous feast. You also see the drawing room, cellars containing the kitchen and scullery. Upstairs there are bedrooms,including one for a child, visitors have the choice of using a 1930s bathroom or an Edwardian one complete with a beautiful flowery loo and bath plus shower.
However probably the highlight is the remarkable collection of miniature theatres which includes a video interviewing the last ‘tinseller’ Joseph Hope Williams.
Currently undergoing refurbishment, this is truly a treasure and must to visit in Derby. A beautiful Georgian garden complements the house.

A treasure in the city centre - this house is the original 18th century ‘Marketing Suite’ and show home for prolific architect Joseph Pickford who designed, built and resided here. It’s well worth a visit. The staff were exceptionally friendly - guiding us into the free visitor car park and answering all our questions with a breadth of knowledge and genuine affection for this unspoilt celebration of Derby’s flourishing art and culture 250 years ago. As the signs state ‘Fantastic and Free’….

A wonderful Georgian house with all the period features - mouldings, furniture. And...on the top floor a fabulous collection of toy theatres telling you all about a most interesting but short lived Victorian hobby. Ideas to take away! Very helpful staff.

Very interesting house made even better by the friendly and knowledgeable custodian. Items are well displayed and give the impression that the occupants had just left for a few minutes. Plenty of information available to highlight what you are looking at. The miniature theatre collection was impressive, too. The car park was not easy to find initially, pass Pickford's House on the right, turn right the right again on the one way system and the car park is on the right before the junction. Travelling with a wide car might be a problem as the gateway is quite narrow, but we had no problem. Definitely worth a visit.

We have a group of Chinese guests coming with us to visit in the summer. Is it possible to arrange for the children to wear themed costumes? There are about 10 children total.

We do have a number of costumes but it might be helpful if you can let me know how many boys and girls are in the group. Also if you can let me know the dates of the visit, we can see what else we can arrange to add to the experience.

Pickford's House is open from 10am - 5pm Tuesday to Saturday. There is also a free car park situated at the back of the house which is accessed from Agard Street. Hope you have a lovely visit and do not hesitate to contact our Business Hub on 01332 641901if you have any further questions.

Hello there
Pickford's House is open Tuesady - Saturday from 10am until 5pm. There is a free car park at the rear of the building which accessed from Agard Street. Also there are free guided tours of the building on a Wednesday morning at 10.30.
