A little walk by the river from the city of derby to get to the park. Nice walk around with benches to sit on. In the summer can just chill out on the grass.

After stopping off in Darley Abbey for some refreshments we decided to walk through the park into town and catch the bus home, it is always an enjoyable easy walk.

A new favourite walk. All paths and ramps so perfect for the pushchair. Free parking and lots of spaces! I’ve spotted a few play areas too for when my little one is older.

Firework display was really poor. You would get better firework display at a local pub. Been last year but this year noticeably worse.

Stroll through the park and into the city centre, lots of dog walkers and joggers who always acknowledge you and are enjoying the wide open space.

Darley Park also contains the National Collection of Hydrangeas, so in season they are an amazing collections. I never knew there were so many. During the summer months the walled garden is unlocked and you can wander at will or take a tour, outside of this then there are a small collection outside the walled garden. There also some beautiful trees, including an avenue of cherry trees before the top car park, and in Spring banks of Daffodils

Just a few miles out of the centre of derby and you are in Darley Park, great place to walk and also have lunch

A lovely park with walks by the side of the river. However, we went on a Sunday and there were lots of dogs. I love dogs and have one of my own BUT people were just letting their dogs run wild with little control over them. Would not go back for a peaceful walk as it was not peaceful/tranquil despite the lovely surroundings.

A regular walk for me and my dogs.
Good paths, plenty of bins.
Wildlife on the river.
Excellent coffee and bacon cobs at the cafe.

They weren't open when we were there. There are updates on the InDerby web site. It says they're working to open them but we didn't see any activity

No tables for a picnic in the park area but at the top of the park there's a cafe where there are tables and chairs. Lots of space to sit on the greenery though

Is there a nice pub serving good food within walking distance of the park/within the park somewhere? Which welcomes muddy boots!

I'd also recommend the Abbey Inn, it's a lovely Sam Smith pub in a historic building.

Hi it's only a cafe I don't think that they sell plants. Nice food and a cuppa.

One has 2 parks in one but a River Derwent is in between one is known as Darley Park with a wildlife meadow and footpath along the river plus a Hydrangeas and the Viburnums gardens and the cricket during the summer and on the other side we have Darley Fields Chester Green side where we have a foot path along the river starting from the Old Handyside railway bridge going through Parkers Piece with roman remains underneath along past Darley Fields depotand up to Folly foot bridge on to the large green area which hosts 11 football pitches and in the days past 9 cricket wickets as for the birds we have plenty of birds along the river i know we had Kingfishers and in Darley Park i am sure there are plenty ,but we do have Peregrines that do nest in the tower of the Cathedral.And Darley Fields is conservation area with Roman remains we used to have well dressing around this area an interesting spot.
