Great selection of beers

Our first visit to this pub situated in a residential area close to the River Derwent. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the choice of beers, including cask, bottled and canned was impressive. It has been a finalist in the Derby Camra City Pub of the Year in 2021 and 2022. I enjoyed a vegan friendly pint of Burnout, a beechwood smoked porter from Brass Castle brewery. On the wall beside the bar is some information about Shiny Brewery, explaining why they don't need to use isinglass finings and how this results in more aromatic and flavoursome cask ales.

Nice enough pub, nice enough people, nice enough cobs but on our visit over the weekend break (as with several pubs we visited) the beer was a little disappointing. Maybe we were unlucky so I wouldn’t put anyone off going and I’ll keep an eye out for reviews to see if that was the case.

Great experience

Cosy pub just outside of Derby town. Themed nights, friendly atmosphere + the staff are wonderful. The beer is a variety like no other, top quality and refreshing. Plenty of ales to choose from.

Great pint

I only went in for a swift pint
.I notice all tables had QR codes which is a lot easier no time wasting. They had a large range of Beers, as a festival on suiting all taste .All staff followed COVID-19 rules. I was served quickly and friendly service . My drink was perfect had the Shiny Go west , so nice I decided to have more .All being well I will be back very soon .keep up the good work

Great Beer, Great Pizzas, Great Staff, Great Pub!

My family and have been going to the furnace for a good while now and thought as they had reopened on the 12th to give it couple of weeks before we tried it again. Well all I can say is that what a great experience it was. We arrived to no queue (Very Lucky as after our arrival there was a constant queue waiting to get a table) and only had to wait a minute before we managed to get a table in a very busy beer garden. We got served straight away and the staff for very attentive giving great service through out. The beer was spot on as always and pizzas were fantastic.

Furnace Inn II

I won't go into too much detail about the location etc of The Furnace inn as I have done a review previous to this. Thid review is based on my last visit after lockdown was lifted on April 12th. First of all I had to queue to get in as it was so busy which wasn't an issue. There was no one enforcing the track and trace and the tables were very cramped in, less than 2 metres apart all with several people per table. The staff were lovely and helpful as ever and did well serving in a busy beer garden. The beer garden is a decent size so can fit in quite a few people. The pizzas we ordered were ok.. some were well undercooked with cold cheese the ones that were the right temperature were decent. The pepperoni literally had 1 bit on per slice and I felt the combination could of been incorporated better. The beer menu was good as ever especially the snailsbank ciders. A pleasant trip in the sun.

Furnace Inn

Furnace Inn located on the edge of Darley park and around 5-10 minutes from Derby city centre is a pub/brewery which offers a huge selection of unique pints. The pub has a large outdoor area which is nice in the summer but average overall and a large bar area inside again which is big standard really. What this pub does offer which makes it so good is a sublime selection of beers, ales and ciders some of which are home brewed. The beers and ciders are regularly rotated meaning there's always something new to try. The pub does offer a pizza which if I remember isn't cheap at all and is bang average however it fills the gap when drinking. Overall it is definitly worth the short trip from Derby city centre. To improve I would say it should have a whole new design both indoor and outdoor and a new menu because this is a pub people will want to visit due to the quality of the beer and with a full food menu are more likely to stay for a long duration.
