A very good visit. No PR people, no marketing spiel. Just matter of fact about their brewing philosophy and history delivered in a relaxed style by knowledgable people. They also have some very good beer! Thoroughly enjoyable.

We brought this experience for my boyfriends mum and dad as a Christmas present, purchasing the vouchers online having read the excellent reviews. Well this was not the experience they received and ruined the intention of this gift completely. Before the trip even started we had trouble with even receiving the vouchers having to chase them several times on where they were, due to not receiving them.
The tour was due to begin at 12 o’clock. At 12:15 there was probably around 20 people waiting and still no sign of life from anyone for this tour. It was pouring it down with rain, this is so bad of a company to expect paying customers to be waiting around in the cold miserable wet weather. We rang the pub ‘the tap’ which stated they had received several angry complaints and were trying to get hold of someone to find out what was going off. At 12:25 someone finally turned up declaring they had no idea there was meant to be a tour, stating they did not expect anyone to be here. This tour was clearly stated on their website. How can a small company be this unorganised, it is honestly so unprofessional and sets the tone for what’s to come I believe.
The tour began, the tour guide was knowledgeable and the beer supplied was nice however the toilets were disgusting and for a woman there was no locks, having to get her husband to watch and hold the door to ensure no other men walked in on her. Meaning that they didn’t want to drink much so they didn’t have to use the facilities again. On the tickets it stated they got a free bottle of beer to take away, asking upon leaving the factory where they collected this from, it was said in a short manor that it would be given at the pub.
They then walked over to the pub, the customer service was appalling. They was pointed to a direction where there table was. When they sat down, there was their name and a question mark. When asking what this was about they stated “the email address wasn’t valid and neither was the phone number” we’ll considering we had contact via email with the company and contacted them via phone this is just utter rubbish and yet again either appalling communication or just pure laziness. So they placed the order of what food they want, luckily there wasn’t any allergies. Their was a rack off beer brought over, but nothing was said about what the beers were or any information given about them. Just placed in front of them. Then having arrived first, everyone received their food before them and when enquiring where the food was a short and blunt response was received stating “it’s coming”. Then it came to the end and then again the free bottle of beer was still not given.
Overall the company saved this entire experience as due to the lack of customer service, abysmal management skills, the poor communication and attention to detail the trip was definitely not the experience we intended them to have. Not an experience that would be recommended due to the negative points stated.

This is a great value tour and this from someone who doesn't normally drink beer. Lots of beer to sample during and pre and post tour. The brewers provide the tour and share their passion. The brewery is on a small industrial estate about 10 minutes walk from the Tap (or get a bus from the bus station). The tour is about an hour followed by beer sampling time followed by lunch at the Tap and a rack of ale to share. Good value.

If you want a slick, corporate experience with a smooth tour guide and luxurious visitor centre and merchandise shop, with a half pint sample at the end, avoid this like the plague.
If you want to be shown round a working brewery in an industrial unit but two beardy blokes in baseball caps, one of whom is the head brewer, while the other one refills your pint glass every time it is more than half empty, then this is for you. The beer is superb, complex and richly flavoured, showing how badly most pub beer is kept, and also why good beer deserves to be treated seriously.
The two ends with a 3/4 mile walk to the tap house where good pub grub is served.
The only downside is that the head brewer at the Derby Brewery admits to being a Forest fan - absolute disgrace.

We visited as a group of friends in March 2018. We enjoyed the bar scene, and the good selection of cask and keg brews available (see the list on the blackboard on The Tap wall). Recommended - we'd definitely call again.

lively informative tour of a small lock up brewery. The best words greet you... ' what would you like to drink?... '
From then on your glass is topped up by Derby Brewery Company's finest beers while you are taken through the brewing process before making your way to the excellent Brewery Tap for a delicious lunch and beer tasting board plus a bottle to take home. It's a seriously great start to a weekend, stag/hen do, or its just a great visit with friends and relatives

Got a brewery trip voucher for Christmas 2015 and finally got round to using it in Nov 2016, but it was worth the wait. The brewery is quite small so the tour doesn't move around much, but our guide was informative & interesting, and we seemed to have access to a limitless supply of excellent beer !! This was followed by a nice lunch with more beer included at the Tap, which is about a 15 minute walk from the brewery. The visit itself took about 90 minutes. Very enjoyable & highly recommended !

An organised tour of the Derby Brewing Company is well worth the cost. It was a gift to us but exceeded all expectations. The tour was really informal, well presented and packed with information. The beers you get to sample are really good and the tour is completed by lunch at the nearby Tap which is one of the companies pubs.
Highly recommended.

Nice small run brewery with some nice rather than outstanding beers. Like the Philosophy which is to experiement and keep evolving. The people are passionate about their product and have a great sense of humour too. This is everything good about the micro brewery scene

An ideal way to spend a saturday afternoon with enthusiastic, knowledgeable brewers and free flowing samples of their excellent beers; followed by a short walk to their "Brewery Tap" pub with typical pub grub, small sample beers and a bottle to take home and savour.
Only sorry that the tour is fortnightly and does not coincide with the visit of a friend who would love it in a few weeks time.
