Very Disappointing shame because we had a good starter, main course disappoiunmting the sae bass was lovely but the vegtables and potatoes were raw. i know what al dente means but I prefer mine a little more cooked and I would have prefered just two new potatoes instaed of crushed. Up to this point the service was very good , we ordered sweets but after waiting 35mins we cancelled the sweets and asked fot the bill.tThe waitress said "oh did you order sweets , yes we did but not prepared to wait 35 mins for them. By now the pub was busy and very nosy it kind of spoilt the evening. We left not a good impreisson for our first visit no we will not try again. It was my husband Birthday and it kind of spoilt.

We use this place as our local and tend to meet people there for drinks rather than food. If you are going to eat, it is extremely popular so definitely worth booking.
It does get busy but you can usually find a table in one of the two bar areas and it has a cracking atmosphere. The service is generally good although you can have to wait sometimes when it is busy.
They do a good range of drinks with the beers as well kept and the pricing not too bad. They have a few TVs showing sport and also some outside booths which are nice when the weather is better.

Sorry to say the afternoon tea was a let down. There were too many sweet items compared to savoury which unfortunately were left. My opinion is that it was not worth the money

Whilst the food was very nice - the service was appalling. I had to get up and ask each time we needed a drink and to order our food. Staff seemed a little put off when I mentioned this. Took 40 mins for first drink order and 60 mins to order food. The pub was not busy.

This is walking distance for us and it makes for a very good local. We tend not to eat there but enjoy drinks and meet lots of people we've met over the years up there.
It does get very busy, but they have plenty of people behind the bar, and You usually get served pretty quickly. If one bar is busy there is another one on the other side of the pub which has a full service of drinks there.
The drinks themselves are of a good variety and are well kept, but they are quite expensive. I guess this is because the pub in self is well kept and a really nice place.

Really struggle with this place. Only live round the corner and it's quite handy. However it's always a lottery when it comes to service especially if seated downstairs when dining. Haveing booked lunch for 4, drink orders were taken promptly with a reasonable pause before food order. Food ordered we were then ignored for 40 minutes. I had to stand up to find a staff member to ask when food would arrive. When it did one item was wrong so had to go back. All a bit disorganised, with request for no sauce on starter not communicated.
The food was ok, but nothing special, like many venues the dishes are mostly pre prepared and finished prior to service.
We gave up waiting for plates to be cleared or a pudding menu to appear and decided to avoid another wait and just went to pay the bill.
When I'd paid I was asked if everything was ok. I pointed out it had taken 1hr 20 minutes to be served one course. I declined the offer to speak to a manger as if they are so out of touch with what's happening during service I'm not going to spend my free time training them.
Clearly the staff have not had sufficient training and management is not close enough to see issues as they arise. If food is delayed mangers should be stepping in, and walking the floor to keep service smooth.
If customers are having to find staff to chase orders or pay the bill something is wrong.

We were given a table at the foot of a stair-way with traffic flying past our table from all directions not sure this would have satisfied the H&S . It was impossible to relax and enjoy the occasion, asked the waiter seating us if this was the best available table totally non responsive, there were tables available the whole time we were there and more on exiting the venue. No comments on the food as I was totally occupied dodging plates and brushing past waiting staff.

We made our 1st visit on Friday afternoon just for a quick drink, within 15 minutes the manager Nina had convinced us to book a Bottomless Brunch for the following day and recommended a resort to have a holiday in Bulgaria. The Bottomless Brunch was fantastic unlimited Prosecco and excellent food was served to us by pleasant staff. Many thanks Nina for making this a special occasion.

Fannies (Fanny's) was named after the landlady of the Victoria Hotel (?) It was actually owned by her father Peter Lawson. Peter was a beer and wine retailor based at the Victoria Hotel. Fanny and her husband George Moss took over the business when Peter retired. Hence Fanny Moss.
