Around 2.5 miles, we took an anti clockwise loop around up to the river where we saw an otter fishing, fantastic! Passed by the weir and back to the town.

A huge area of natural meadowland, stunning vista of wild flowers in season - must be one of the best preserved and largest wildflower meadows in the whole of the UK. Perimeter walk around the ham like a trip into the past splendour of natural meadows.

We crossed at the mill then walked along the river before crossing back at the blue bridge. Lovely walk and great scenery.

Tewkesbury is such a great town to visit and we enjoyed a lovely morning walk around the Severn Ham. There is free parking at the start of the walk though places are limited, then you cross a bridge and you are in lovely meadows with level walks. Some flood defences are being made so the path is diverted but it makes for a pleasant easy 1 hour circular walk.

The Ham is a small island that acts as a flood plain between the Avon and Severn rivers. It’s reached by crossing a bridge in the middle of town. The walk (early Sept 21) had excellent views of the rivers, boats and riverside buildings with lots of sheep grazing. Need to watch out for sheep droppings on your boots. A small area of the walk was closed due to utility pipe works but this didn’t cause any problems.

We attempted the full walk but due to pipe works we were unable. However still a lovely walk by the River Severn. We were inhibited partially by done utility pipe works being carried out. Hopefully when finished the land will be fully restored.

An historic meadow situated between the River Severn, and River Avon. Easy access over a footbridge from the the town, and a pleasant walk along the footpaths edging the rivers.

Lovely low level water meadow with a superb variety of both wildlife, and particularly birdlife. The meadows, of course are a haven for wildflowers, although they were being cut back, and of course this removed the hiding places for many small mammals, much to benefit of circling hawks.
Great place for walking as the Ham is effectively a triangular island in between the rivers Severn and the (Stratford) Avon, and frequently floods both in winter and often in other seasons.
Very good place for a picnic, but these are dangerous waters and it would be foolhardy to swim in either river.

Slightly (!) wet underfoot due to several days of rain beforehand, but a beautiful walk around the island, exploring the wear and enjoying the almost medieval views of the countryside, unchanged for centuries. The sheep roam harmlessly around though you need one eye on the ground or it's not just mud that'll be on your boots. Second time we've visited in 20 years, the first time this was flooded, hopefully next time it'll be dry and warm. Loved the fresh air.

The currents in the Severn can be quite strong so please use caution if letting your dog swim. Dogs can get into the river in many places but there’s a ‘beach’ about 100 yards clockwise from the weir which is probably the best place.
Downstream from the Abbey Mill (still on the Ham) is a millstream that is much safer for dogs to swim in.
