Would defo highly reccommend a few hours visiting this Museum. Some very intersting items that i have not seen in similar venues.

We were met by the guide Tony.. he was really friendly, informative on our tour around the museum, we then had another chance to look around on our own, nice way to spent 3 hours.

Turned up at the museum unsure what to expect. We were greeted by Damien who said he could guide us around or we could just wander, we opted for Damien as a guide, what followed was an amazing two and a half hours as he showed us selected interesting pieces from the museums vast collect. The breath and depth if his knowledge was astounding. He certainly made the visit a delight for us. If you want to understand a regiment from the early 1800s to present day I recommend you go.

In December my partner and I went to Fulwood Barracks. Our objective was to gain more information about my partners two Grandfathers WW1 military records. The staff on duty were very helpful and were able to provide new and fascinating facts. One of the volunteers, Damian, then gave us an informative tour of the Barracks and told us more about the history of the many exhibits. A memorable day thank you.

This is an interesting and live museum within an active-duty barracks of Her Majesty’s Army. An obligated stop at Lancashire to pay tribute to the history of this Royal Infantry regiment.
Damian, the volunteer guide of the Museum, provided us an in-depth tour throughout the different dependencies, showing us the collection master pieces connected with the Regiment historical milestones.
We felt like at home, thanks to the hospitality of the Museum staff, and enjoyed the interesting good-care collection of the Regiment in a typical rainy English morning.
We miss this kind of tribute and remembrance to our soldiers and the historical military affairs in our own country, Spain, and indeed we have a lot of to learn about from our English hosts and fellows.

Went here as a backup and turned out the highlight of the weekend. Some real historical and culturally significant items. The best part was the volunteer who showed us round as this ended up being a personal tour of the whole museum. He had seen active service with the regiment and had an amazing knowledge and interest in millitary history which really came across and brought the exhibits to life. Can't recommend enough and being on an active barracks only serves to give it extra authenticity.

surprising free to enter
make sure you have got current photo ID
disabled wheel chair friendly lift to second floor etc easy to see exhibits
after ringing the museum finally got the ID sorted the lady curator is so helpful and friendly got inside the barracks for parking with the help of the above
So on the way back from Lytham went to museum was well worth the effort
Really interesting old exhibits well laid out and labelled so easy to understand with the additional information
meet some other people similar to ourselves visiting very enjoyable so got side tracked talking
will return to have a better look at the exhibits

We enjoyed our visit to the museum where we had a great guided tour of the huge collection of artifacts. The museum is located on MOD property so photo ID is required, but once inside the museum is very user friendly and modern. The setting is fantastic and the array of items is huge. The museum and parking is also free.

Very interesting museum, went on heritage day got the additional tour round the outside of buildings in the barracks and had its history explained. There were also re in actors of soldiers of the Georgian, WW1 and nurses of that era dress in the uniform of the day along with the equipment. Well done the volunteers of the museum

Great museum showcasing the histories of a number of Lancashire and Border Regiments that are now amalgamated. Some of the exhibits are truly exceptional and the booklets in each room that correlate with the numbers on each exhibit are genius for letting you appreciate exactly what you are seeing. It is located in a working barracks so you need government issued photo ID to get in. The bus from the Preston bus station stops just outside the entrance (bus 6 leaving from stand 2). Entrance is free.
