We attend Saturday 27th of May to watch the London film Orchestra play music by John Williams and Hans Zimmer. Who knew a church could be such a perfect venue for a concert! We arrived 30 mins before the start, was greeted and shown to our seats, there was a bar at the back to get refreshments from and toilets if needed. The music was amazing and honestly it was one of the best evenings me and fella have had in a long time, it had been a warm spring day and I was worried it be a packed venue warm and sticky, but the venue was very cool and breezy! The place was covered in candles and was very romantic!

Attended the DN Light Show in Doncaster St Georges Minster last night. This is a free event sponsered by the Council.
Well worth the visit, must be pre-booked though. There was also a 2nd free show of 15 minutes on the walls of the Corn Exchange Market place building.
Again well worth a visit but this is not booked beforehand.

Such a wonderful church that sits so proud very close to Doncaster town centre.
It’s fabulous inside and out, and certainly worth a visit whenever you’re in Doncaster.

Do not understand why the church was locked in the afternoon - only open for a few hours in the morning. When I walked past I found a young lady kneeling outside the grill door, deep in prayer - not a good sight when places of faith are not open in troubled times.

This grade 1 listed building is both serene and welcoming, the staff were very helpful and well versed in the history.
Do visit and make your own mind up about this place of worship, near the town centre and the river Don.

My friends and I went into this church while we were in Doncaster. This church is very interesting to visit while in Doncaster and we learnt the history of it and what happened to it when it was on fire and how the people of Doncaster help pay to rebuild it. It is good to try when you are in Doncaster.

I came here on a cold night. After seeing it advertised on my local tv news. I love to see it all lit up outside, so it made a nice change to see how it would look all lit up inside. It certainly didn’t disappoint. The people around the building were very friendly and the lighting event was fab. Plus on my way home I managed to see the Mansion house lit up outside too. Looking equally as good.

We are pleased that you enjoyed the Festival of Light at the Minster this year, which was brought to us by the arts group ‘Right Up Our Street’. This year Right Up Our Street commissioned Novak Collective and sound artist Ed Carter to create the artwork 'Tectonic', which formed the centrepiece of the Festival.
The work was commissioned as a unique, immersive, light and sound installation, which, through projection mapping technology, highlighted the beautiful interior of the Doncaster Minster and appeared to 'play' the architecture like a musical instrument telling the story of the destruction of the old church in 1853 and its rebirth as the present building, under the guiding hand of George Gilbert Scott.

A Festival of Light was held at Doncaster St George's Minster. 30 minutes lighting up the inside of the Minster building. Free to enter. Lighting also partly outside on a murky November evening.
The spectacular event was truly amazing to see.

The internal event at the Minster: Tectonic - continues Monday 25th - Wednesday 27th November from 4pm - 9pm. An incredible piece of art in sound and light - not to be missed!

Rebuilt on the site of the ancient Saxon church, the medieval 12 century church was burned down in 1853 but this is a creation by Sir George Gilbert Scott and was given Minster status in 2004. I found it hard to get to across a very busy road. In thr grounds is a topiary of St George slaying the Dragon. Being there during the week there weren't any services at convenient time but the vergers were very welcoming and pointed out many features.

We are pleased that you found a welcoming church and enjoyed your visit. There is a very convenient Pelican crossing from the town centre to the Minster with a central reservation for safety. Unfortunately, the George and Dragon topiary feature was removed a few years ago and is no longer available.
There is Morning Prayer daily Monday - Saturday at 8am and Evening Prayer Monday - Friday at 5pm; Holy Communion on Tuesday at 12.30pm; Wednesday at 12.30pm and Thursday at 11am. For all services including Sundays and other events see our website or call 01302 323748.

Hi, thank you for your response to my review. I understand you need funds that's why we made a donation. However, we felt paying to take pictures on top which could benefit you by promoting you was a little unreasonable as in our mind we had paid to do this with our donation.
