I have not been out in a while into the town centre. The last time I went in this place was about 20-25 years ago. I went out last week & went in here and they had a live band on that were fabulous. It was a real feel good pub. I would definitely return. The staff were friendly too. Well worth 5* rating.

The Horse & Groom Pub is an absolutely fantastic city centre pub we always tend to drop into whenever we visit Doncaster.
The pub is very traditional, a lovely interior, great decor and furnishings including a cool looking serving bar and tv's to enjoy the sport, theres also plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, it's just a great place to unwind in.
We were here on a Saturday night, pub was bouncing with a great atmosphere ,my twin brother Stephen and I ordered a guinness, these were poured in the correct manner even allowing time for the all important settle,we just chilled out and took in the great pub we were in.
My guinness was exceptional, rich,creamy and most importantly served iced cold ,a really refreshing brew.
This is certainly one seriously busy pub ,on our visit it was packed but with it being the weekend and the horse racing being on in Doncaster hardly surprising really.
We both really enjoyed our guinness in here before we moved on and as on every other visit to here we had a great time.
The Horse & Groom Pub is easy to locate on East Laith Gate.
A great pub,if your in the area well worth checking out.

This was my first visit to the pub for nearly 50 years, the last time being as a 16 yr old, getting a bit drunk with my mates.!!
Its all change now, a good music venue with regular live bands, decently priced drinks, pleasant staff, well ran and no trouble.
We went on a Northern Soul Event, not by plan, it was just on the night we visited. It was busy with a lively crowd. Plenty of bodies in appropriate wear for the event, males females, parties of both, couples, oldies like us and plenty of young folk,( though none as young as on my last visit.) A good fun night was had by all.There is plenty of seating if you just want to sit with friends.
As is said the drinks were very reasonably priced, they dont try and compete with Wetherspoons, but at only £3 for a pint of real ale, they make a real go of making the place affordable, especially when a live band is on. They are not open all week, Wednesday to Sunday i believe.
For a good night in Doncaster, with live music I doubt you will do better, regardless of your age ! Dont expect all nighters though, its not a late night place, just a good pub, serving proper drinks at reasonable prices, friendly, and if you pick your night, good live music. Ill be back, and Im not waiting another 50 years.

Fantastic hosts, great atmosphere and superb live entertainment
How a ‘proper’ pub should be good prices on excellent choice of drinks and all served with a smile from the excellent staff would recommend for a great night out

Lovely drinking pub bang in the middle of Doncaster. Came in with the work lot and loved it.
Armchair next to the fire brought a welcomed warmth and we all enjoyed the drinks of tap, could have stayed in there all night.
It is a bit sparce and tired but it adds to the character.

Attended last night for a quiz night organised to raise funds for Firefly cancer awareness and support night. A great night. The staff and the regular customers made us feel most welcome and joined in with the experience. Great hosts

Our race club chose Doncaster for it annual racing weekend and after the race's we hit some of the great pubs and bars this town has to offer and The Horse & Groom Pub is a pub we always visit on any trip to Doncaster as its a great pub offering superb beers and live music.
We were here on a Saturday night and this place was packed hardly surprising really as every bar and pub we visited was the same,race days always make for great days.
We ordered some beres and just settled in for a couple of hours enjoying the live music by a very tented group who had this place bouncing.
The atmosphere in here was superb and the beers served iced cold and sparkling and at a great price.
We really enjoyed ourselves in here before we moved on and as on every other visit to here we had a great time.
Very easy to locate on East Laugh Gate in the city centre.
Opening hours are;
Monday,closed.
Tuesday to Thursday,5pm till 11pm.
Friday,4pm till 12.e0am.
Saturday,Midday till 12.30am.
Sunday,2pm till 11pm.

This place is a gem in Doncaster.
Always has a great atmosphere and offers a brilliant selection of local bands on every week. Friendly fun and very much how pubs and live music should be.
