During a walk through Colmar we also passed the Parc du Champ-de-Mars. This is a rather large green area from 1900. At the beginning of December the park was not particularly worth seeing, in warmer months maybe it was?!?

It looked particularly enhancing with the incipient autumn season with some of the trees already turning.

Do you know what the French do well? Enjoy their parks. Any green space you encounter is filled with people relishing each other’s company while having a picnic — real food, not greasy bagged fast food — doing yoga, jogging, reading, or just sitting on a bench taking in nature. We can all learn from this example.

The Champ de Mars park in Kalmar was established at the beginning of the 19th century. In 1864, a fountain with a statue of Admiral Bruhat, a native of the city, was opened there.

Nice central park in Colmar with carousel from 1900 and activities dependent on the time of year. Nice fountain and Colmar sign for pics as well. During Christmas season, there are some rides and concessions setup as well - this was especially nice as it was away from the huge crowds in the central part of town. Nice open area here.

The Park is huge and is the beating heart of Colmar, here people gather noisily even until late (and this can be a problem if you are staying nearby).
Quiet and fairly clean, it is also ideal for families with children.
