The visit to this ancient cava is one of the most curious, tucked in the middle of the civil hospital, with historic barrels and bottled wine from the 15th century. Wines can be purchased from the winery.

The wine cave was so interesting and different! A little hard to find, it could be sign posted a bit better. The audio is worth getting too. Wine is available to purchase, a fascinating history and highly recommend a visit!

Wandering around the beautiful Alsace, we decide to make a visit to the Cave Historique in Strasbourg, convenient parking within the hospital complex, with acceptable rates, also to be used to leave the car and get around the city on foot. Unfortunately we arrive close to the break time and do not allow us to visit the cellar, but we do not miss the opportunity to buy 2 beautiful cases with different qualities of wine, at really interesting prices! Even at the end of the city tour unfortunately we arrive that the cellar is already closed, the hours are actually really reduced, too bad! We will console ourselves tasting their products...

A visit to the cellars of the hospital is an exceptional sensation. Immersing yourself in a sensation of must in such an atypical place is worth the visit. Parking inside the hospital is difficult. The "mice" (as the staff are called) are very kind. Audio guide in Italian to be taken absolutely. Great choice of Alsatian and non-Alsatian vines.

Super interesting and unique! Slightly off the beaten path but everything in Strasbourg is quite close. Entry is free, bottles are available to purchase. We were very impressed with the young woman greeting people at the entrance and handling the register. She was kind, friendly, and very good at her job. Multitasker extraordinaire! Look it up on AtlasObscura to learn more about it. Very cool!

Really interesting place to explore and it’s free!
Very poorly signposted - we only found it by putting the address into google maps and even then we entered via the exit!
It doesn’t take long to go through the cellars but they are very interesting with the oldest cask of white wine in the world amongst other things.
Glad we took the time to explore this fascinating place and learn the history (thanks Wikipedia)

A free cellar tour that the people ask for, if you want a guided tour, there are plenty of them in the region. I found the place really interesting, the welcome extraordinary, the reserve full and varied, I discovered this kind of oval-shaped barrel, I had never seen one.

The first difficulty is finding the entrance to the cellar in the Hospital complex. The visit is interesting with some highlights. There are few explanations despite everything. Typically, I would have hoped for a paid visit with a tasting to get the most out of a commercially oriented site. This is not the case and we remain thirsty. The staff doesn't care and waits for orders that don't come. In addition, the prices offered are not attractive.
