Très bel appartement de Victor Hugo, idéalement situé sur la Place des Vosges. Entrée libre pour visiter l'appartement. La visite est intéressante et le salon chinois notamment, est magnifique.

The visit to this house is recommended for various reasons, first because it overlooks a beautiful square, one of the most beautiful in Paris, then because there are various objects and furnishings that were authentically owned by Victor Hugo, including handwritten notes, then because he really lived there for several years. Not least, because admission is free!

I wanted to visit places related to Rémisérables, but because of the Olympics it was closed temporarily along the Seine, such as the Sewerage Museum.
This one was open and free, so I went there.
It is about a 10-minute walk from the Bastille, famous for its roses.
Unlike other busy areas, not many people walk during the day,
Not only are there few fancy shops and nice restaurants, but there are a lot of graffiti on the streets, poor dressed people and homeless people, and the atmosphere was not very good.
I feel like I have seen a side of Paris that is a little uncomfortable for walking alone after dark, even though it is a park (Place des Vosges) in front of me.
There is a luggage inspection at the entrance and there seems to be no cloakroom, so I think it is better to have as little luggage as possible.
He lived there nearly 200 years ago, but the fact that the building still exists and functions normally, with some creakiness, is amazing in itself.
The exhibits were beautiful and elaborate in each room, with some English explanation signs.
When Hugo moved to Brussels, he naturally sold the furniture, but it seems that he collected and displayed objects close to that period.
However, what can I say ... I was curious about the smell of the building.
(I think it depends on the individual.)
There was also a café and a museum shop at the exit.

Free historical museum in the heart of Place des Vosges telling the story of the famous French writer Victor Hugo. The collection is rich and detailed, a historic building with an incredible location and views, free entry and close to the metro in the Marais, the team that welcomes the public is very kind. Recommended.
