Impossible not to walk on these medieval walls and visit the various towers, the Tower of Constance, the only one with defensive functions, stands out above all, from the walls you can also see the wonderful salt pans.

Aigues-Mortes is an absolute treasure. The sheer scale of the fortifications, which were around 2k
encircling the entire town, are breathtaking. Walking along the walls offers incredible views of the surrounding marshlands and the town itself, and it takes about 45 minutes to an hour to walk the full circuit at a leisurely pace. The towers, especially the iconic Tour de Constance, are remarkably well-preserved and house a small but fascinating museum with insights into the town’s history. Visiting in December was a dream—there were almost no other visitors, giving the feeling of having the entire place to yourself. Highly recommend experiencing it in the off-season for a peaceful and immersive visit. A solid 5 stars for its history, beauty, and tranquil atmosphere!

Beautiful discovery and landscape as far as the eye can see. At night it was magical with a light show on the ramparts, beautiful enough for any audience. I recommend this visit. Aigues Mortes is a beautiful city where the traders are very friendly.

The ramparts of Aigues-Mortes are an excellent activity to do in the Camargue. Steeped in history, they offer a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscapes, perfect for an immersion in the local heritage!

Dead Aquates is a pretty walled city. Impressive rampart but restores. Nice alley to do on foot and full of shop and restaurant.

Merci pour votre visite !
Nous nous permettons une remarque : le rempart n’est pas "restauré" dans le sens ou il aurait été reconstruit, il est entretenu : quand certaines pierres sont trop dégradées (et donc que c’est dangereux) elles sont remplacées (même type de pierre, taillée à la main...), quand le rempart est trop "attaqué" par la pollution il est nettoyé, etc. Mais le rempart est resté tel qu’il était !
Nous avons de plus aménagé des tours pour présenter l’histoire, l’architecture du lieu, et nus accueillons aussi des expositions suivant les périodes de l’année.

Great visit for history lovers. The guides are very professional. Very nice view of the saltworks, and the Camargue. Many parking facilities are available.

My friends and I were unable to visit the ramparts of this beautiful city because we were not old enough. On the eve of our 18th birthday we were not able to make this visit which seems totally secure to me, while all other Things to do that we did during our stay (more or less secure) were allowed to us. I find this very disturbing for young people who wish to be interested and educated in history... To conclude if you are under 18, stay home in front of your screens because you will surely be too young to be able to be interested in anything...

Nous vous remercions de votre visite aux Tours et remparts d’Aigues-Mortes. Nous portons une attention particulière à l’accueil de nos visiteurs, ainsi qu’à votre expérience de visite, aussi nous prenons bonne note de vos remarques.
Nous comprenons la frustration que cela engendre pour des personnes à la veille de leur 18ans, mais qu’en serait il pour des mineurs de 7 ans par exemple ? Pensez-vous qu’il serait acceptable de leur laisser visiter le monument seuls ?
En France la majorité est fixée à 18 ans, et cela s’accompagne d’un certain nombre de responsabilité qui n’existent pas avant cet âge : responsabilité pénale et civile par exemple. C’est peut-être injuste, mais ni le monument et ses employés qui s’attachent à proposer toute l’année un accueil et des services de qualité, ni même l’établissement public que le gère ne sont responsables de cette âge qui diffère celons les pays...
Sachez toutefois que justement afin de permettre au plus grand nombre, et notamment aux jeunes personnes de visiter le patrimoine, « de s’intéresser » comme vous le dites, les sites du Centre des Monuments Nationaux sont gratuits jusqu’à 25ans...
Nous serons heureux de vous recevoir sans accompagnement à ce moment là !

Probably not suitable with a buggy but providing the little ones can climb steps they will love it. Make sure you go down to the wetlands beyond the wall and watch the otters
