A beautiful place to visit it has a stunning set of stained glass windows and if you want to light a candle they take card payments.

Always beautiful, a historic church. Beautiful stained glass windows, otherwise quite sober as it really should be

This old church is inside the castle city. It’s a centerpiece of the city and you can imagine people flocking to it over 1000 years ago which is mind boggling. It’s really beautiful.

The former cathedral and current basilica of St-Nazaire and St-Celse in Carcassonne is one of the most important religious buildings in the south of France. The basilica of St. Nazaire in Carcassonne is located near the city walls of the medieval city and was on a branch of the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela.
The first church built on this site dates from the 6th century. In 925 the bishop's seat was transferred to Saint Nazaire.
A Carolingian building was inserted between this first church and the current basilica. Construction of the latter began in 1096, when Pope Urban II blessed the site, and was completed around 1130. Around 1269 it was decided to enlarge the building. The Romanesque choir was demolished and replaced by a Gothic choir. The transept was also remodeled between 1300 and 1311. However, as funds became scarce, the Romanesque nave was retained.

The original church is was probably built in the 6th century, as an Ostrogothic church. It was replaced by a Carolingian building, of which no traces remain. The current building was started in 1096, and it was converted into Gothic style in the 13th century. It underwent several reworkings in the following centuries, and works are still going on as of April 2024.
There are some remarkable stained glass windows in the choir, dating from 1280, and several statues, tombs, chapels worth seeing.

The Basilica of Saint Nazaire is located in the Cité Médiévale and is worth a visit. Built and renovated several times, it is characterized by a mixture of Gothic and Romanesque styles. Here is the oldest organ in France. Free entry.

Olá, não posso precisar quanto tempo vão demorar os trabalhos de restauração. Em geral esses são bem demorados, por envolverem muitos detalhes.
Boa sorte!
