Musée récent très bien organisé et instructif relatant la Grande Guerre;

As an Australian one hers much about the WWI western front but nothing prepares you for the horror. Here so many young men died in a period of 24 hours. Museum very much worth a visit and you can reflect on the shear horror of war in the midst of what is now beautiful country-side.

Very disappointing, I emailed months ahead and like others, never got a response. Took weeks of resending the same email (Greg later saying he didn't get them...) before we were finally able to confirm a tour date. This was organised several months before our visit. Unfortunately around a week before we due to arrive in Lille, we received an email from Greg saying that he now couldn't make that date. Of course by then we had our itinerary planned, and were unable to rearrange our schedule to take advantage of the English battlefield tours offered by the Lille Tourist Information Centre. I would suggest using the information centre tours (English tours on Wed, Fri, and Sat) as a more reliable way to avoid disappointment and being let down.

Highly recommend this tour very good value. Organised a lot packed in. We went to Ypres and paschandael on first day, in Belgium for the cemetery's and last post which was v moving. Ate in one of the restaurants in Ypres which is a lovely place buzzing restaurants and shops. 2nd day went to the area of the Somme and the tour v nicely bypassed to delville wood where our uncle died in last battle of the Somme and visited the unnamed soldiers memorial. Stunning area v moving. Then visited thiepval to lay wreath which is a magnificent memorial very beautiful and well kept. There we are our packed lunch in the sunshine in picnic area. We visited other museums and cemeteries with a well paced time at each place. Our amazing tour guide Tim lord providing great info throughout, he was very passionate about area and very amusing. We stayed at a 3 star Altia tourcoing which was comfortable and a nice, friendly hotel. Last day we went to the Canadian memorials v impressive Vimy ridge. U can not imagine the unrest of battle it's so peaceful now. A very good organised tour with a bit of long travelling by coach, only to be expected but great memories.

This was a personnel visit to get information on my relative and to show respect for his sacrifice. The monuments and memorials are well cared for and the museum is well set up and definitely worth a visit for all. Lest We Forget.

We were there during late April and it was still cold. Our tour guide, Stephen from APT, gave us a wonderful insight as to the battles that took place here and the origins of the statue
