Hard to turn a shovel over and not brush up against ruins dating back to the B.C. Roman era. Oh, the problems the modern-day redevelopment ilk must face! Yikes, not another one! Yup, it's another one. And progress is therefore not progressing. Some of us are okay with that. We like that Roman clap-trap.
Our tour guide directed us to the inadvertant discovery of an historical site. All progress (such that it is) grinds thankfully to a stop. How inconvenient that must be for the governmental mega-building sitting at the top of this "inconvenience." Thankfully, progress is stalled so that history can be preserved.
Stuff happens. Romans still pop their heads up and out of history to say, "we're still here!" I'm lovin' it.

qui decouvrait des cranes humains en creusant dans son champ , révélant l'Indice de pésence humaine sur les lieux
Les fouilles interrompues puis achevées en 1969 mettaient à jjour les preuves d'un habitat défensif et la presence de guerriers
On peut se promener
Le long des murs de pierre blanche , vestiges des habitations d''une ville fortifiee Qui occupait une position dominante sur le plateau de Puyricard
Sculptures et d'objets découverts sont exposes au musee granet et presentés
En photos commentees sur des'panneaux sur site
On y voit des boulets de balistes romaines, les durs visages et des torses de guerriers,
de nombreuses têtes coupées sont sculptees et , presentées par les auteurs vainqueurs .,
On découvre des Maisons à etages , avec des cours intérieures, des pressoirs en pierre , des fours a pain
Des rues , les implantaions des maisons en pierre , au sol en terre battue.
Ce lieu qui révéle un habitat qui n'a duré que 80 ans avant Jesus christ,et qui etait reparti en deux villes
haute et basse, sur un large plateau ponctué de magnifiques chênes ,
Une zone importante reste encore a fouiller
Une magnifique vue sur Aix en Provence, une promenade instructive qui éveille notre intérét pour ces hommes du passé

J'ai visité l'Oppidum d'Entremont dans le cadre de mes études et ça ne m'a pas époustouflée. On n'y voit pas grand chose, mise à part la vue extraordinaire qu'on a sur les environs une fois la visite finie.

Been to the oppidum several times.
Interesting place though not majestic but it has a beautiful view around. You can even see the St Victoire and around Aix from there. Take with you a picnic or some water. There’s no cafeteria there. Notice it’s closed for lunch (12-1400) and close also once a week.
You can also book a guided tour one day ahead.

Situe en pleine nature, ce site fait faire une ballade à travers le temps et les arbres... Relativement bien conservé, les enfants peuvent courir à peu près partout et cela fait une agreable maniere de passer le temps, tout en profitant des tresors du passé.

If you're interested in seeing the remnants of a 2200 year old Gaulish village on the edge of Aix-en-Provence, this is an interesting place to see.
It is best to call ahead before you go because the hours are not guaranteed. I went during scheduled hours and it was closed the first time I went.
It's also easy to take the bus - number 11 will take you to the bus stop Entremont.
It is a no frills place to visit. You park, you enter and walk around. No tickets, signs loosely placed to sort of direct you. It was helpful that they had a sign with the history of the place in multiple languages.

Site bien conservé bien que pas encore entièrement fouillé.
On comprend bien le plan d'urbanisme de l'ancienne ville celte.
Et il n'y a personne, en pleine période touristique...

Call first, or have the Tourist Info people check first. While the site might be very interesting, it's a long uphill walk to get turned away. The number 7 (stop:Brunet) and 5 (stop:Ontano) take you within a ten minute walk.

Un lieu remarquablement conservé. Cette ancienne capitale celtique du peuple des Salyens impressionne encore après les combats destructeurs de 123 et 90 av. J.-C., livrés contre les Romains. Il faut ensuite aller au Musée Granet, à Aix, pour découvrir les objets impressionnants retrouvés sur le site.
