Every morning there is a lively fish market around the beautiful fountain. The former Palais Communal (town hall) overlooking the square is currently awaiting restoration. Behind it stands the bell tower of Saint-François, which belonged to the monastery relocated to Simiers. The square leads to the very busy Rue Pairolière.

In a city that can feel very crowded and confined because of its geography, it was a pleasure to find this large open space with a lot of shade under trees. We paused out of the sun and enjoyed it all.

Während eines Spaziergangs durch die Innenstadt von Nizza kamen wir auch am Place Saint-François vorbei. Dieser ist ein eher kleiner Platz und war in früheren Zeiten der Ort des Fischmarktes. Heute wirkte er eher vernachlässigt und heruntergekommen und daher weder schön noch interessant.

Racchiusa tra la pedonale Rue Pairolière e Bd. Jean Jaurès. Attorno alla sua fontana di delfini accoglie ogni mattina, dal martedì al sabato, il mercato del pesce.

В старом городе Ниццы на Place Saint-François (площадь святого Франциска) находится рыбный рынок. Посетили мы его 31 декабря 2019 года. Прямо скажем, продавцов было не очень много. Но выбор неплохой. Правда цены даже дороже чем в Марселе в Старом порту. Найти рынок довольно просто. Если Вы стоите на площади Массена, то ориентируйтесь на высокую розовую колокольню. Заходите в старый город, чуть не доходя самой башни, и оказываетесь на площади. Смотрите фото.
