Rotten chairs and provided more for children and.non.adults so small
Two female toilets only for a planned opera.to accommodate about 1800 people
Balconies where we see absolutely nothing.but where the price remains high
Filling..etc..
I don ́t mean the heat all year round (and especially the summer) so confined is the opera
And yet the shows are of quality

Several beautiful representations in this magnificent setting in the center of Marseille.
....the great classics and to finish in the Old Port with the boat to Friuli with beautiful vegetation in the Mediterranean sun

This Theatre is one of the oldest in France.
It was built at the end of the 18th century and the current structure was totally rebuilt in the early 1900s.

We saw the Marriage of Figaro.
Congratulations to the orchestra and the singers for the performance given, it was fantastic! On the other hand, this is the third time that we have been able to get seats in the orchestra (which is not easy because even 8 months ago, it is full (?!)) and with each new seat, even armchairs worthy of the tortures of the inquisition!!
Completely slumped armchairs which must be at least 50 years old (I saw that there was a renovation of the interior in 1972!) and with a very, very, very small space (the show lasted 3h40!!! )
Otherwise, and despite the fact that our backs hurt a lot, it's still a pleasant experience.

The Opera in Marseille is one of the oldest theaters in all of France. It was founded in 1787, with a capacity of about 1800 people.
The building burned down in 1919, but was later restored and reopened in 1924.
In 1997 it was included in the list of historical monuments.

We were at the opera on November 4, 2023. One of the reasons for visiting Marseille was the opera. It’s always been difficult with the repertoire in Europe; at that time there was only the opera “Attila”. We prepared ourselves for chic decorations and the same Italian voices. Apparently, when they took the tickets from Moscow, they somehow missed that there would be a concert performance. Well, that’s it, we left after the first act. There was a very strong dissonance between the orchestra and the performers. You can hardly hear the music, and the voices in the 4th row almost made us deaf. The theater itself is very beautiful. I was also “amazed” by the buffet; chips and sandwiches in film were offered along with champagne. We are already used to the fact that in Europe there is a problem with opera buffets, but this is overkill.

This building is currently closed for renovation work so I can only review it's exterior. It has black gates surrounding the building that have gold pictures on them. The building itself has six large white pillars to it's facade with the rest of the building in sandstone. It has five large black windows each with Juliet balcony with some nicely curved figurines to it's peak.

Un scandale,
Marseillaise et férue d’opéra, je ne supporte plus les carences de ce lieu:
-visibilité nulle depuis la plupart des places
-versions concertantes pour faire des économies
La culture est vraiment en perte de vitesse ds ma ville.

This is a nice building. It is the Opera House of Marseille. The history of the Opera House in Marseille goes back to the 17th century, however the present building was constructed in the early 20th century, as the previous one had been destroyed by fire. Unfortunately for us, the building was closed on the day of our visit so we were unable to go inside.
