Great museum with an overwhelming variety of exhibits of Germanic-German history.
It seems strange that the management of the house seems to deliberately relativize the keywords of its own name “National” and “Germanic” and describes the house more as international. There is talk of the German-speaking world and diverse migration, but little is reported about the German nation.
I lack the appropriate national pride in terms of both technical/cultural and social/political achievements.
A comparable institution in the UK or France does a very different job.
The Germanic National Museum must also understand that the scar left by National Socialism remains visible at all times, but does not shape the history of the imaginary “Germanic nation”.

The German National Museum in Nuremburg is located between Kornmarkt and Frauentormauer. Opening hours are 10am to 6pm daily with extended hours until 8.30pm on Wednesdays and closed on Mondays. Entry is €10 per adult and includes access to several temporary exhibitions in addition to the permanent collections which can easily take up several hours to explore at a leisurely pace. There is a basement level cafe along with locker usage if you want to store your coats and belongings during your visit.
Interestingly, Germanisches Nationalmuseum is the largest museum of cultural history in Germany. There are over 25,000 items on display covering a wide range of time periods and subject matters relating to Germany's history and heritage. There is a very helpful museum map available which greatly assists in planning your visit if time is limited. We found the permanent collection to be laid out well but given the scale of things to see, the map was quite useful in helping make our way through the entire museum.
There are many interesting things to see throughout, known more so than Martin Behaim's Globe, the oldest surviving globe in the world dating to the late 15th century. The museum website provides useful information on the collections of items that are on display. This can be a resourceful tool to use if wanting to think about what to target seeing prior to your visit.
Overall, we really enjoyed Germanisches Nationalmuseum and will gladly revisit the next time we are in Nuremburg.

Opens the millennial history of Europe. Here is also the oldest globe in the world where there is no America yet. Here you can see paintings and portraits of crowned personalities of Albrecht Dürer. Here are stunning wooden statues with fine carvings and much more. Highly recommended. The entrance fee is 10 euros. On the 1. Floor you can enjoy coffee and cake.

Great large museum, could easily spend a day here. If you don’t like what you are seeing in one area. Just walk to the next area. There was medieval, church related, great art, nature, armor, hunting, burial practices and just so much more. Definitely worst a visit for history minded people. It is good for families or young people.

Fascinating walk through history and art. The audio tour was excellent but even though I’d researched in advance, I hadn’t found the download to my own phone in advance option and neglected to bring my headphones. If you can, do that otherwise it’s 3 euros to rent theirs. Still worth it.

The German National Museum is the largest museum of German art and culture in Germany.
The idea of the museum was influenced by the political changes of the mid-19th century, when separate kingdoms, principalities and duchies began to unite into a single empire under the leadership of Prussia. The new empire needed a national idea. From 1871, the museum was officially named the German National Museum and became the Museum of German Art and Culture.
In 1857, the Bavarian King Ludwig II donated the building of the former Cartesian monastery in Nuremberg to the founder of the museum, Hans von Aufzef, to house the exhibits of the national museum.
The unique historical ensemble of the 14th century, with its cloister, church and other buildings, housed works of art from the assemblies of Franconian and Bavarian rulers.
After the serious destruction of the Second World War, a modern building was added to the preserved part of the monastery premises in two stages — in the sixties and nineties of the last century — greatly expanding the museum premises.
The art collection of the German National Museum will be the envy of any art gallery in the world. This extensive section contains works of art from the early Middle Ages to the present day. It contains unique works of church art, sculptures, stained glass windows.

Germanic Historical Museum. A really big museum, the rooms are immense, you get confused easily. Here too the
Directions are in German only. The map they give to the entrance is not very simple. Luckily I found an Italian-speaking Guide and he helped us find the room we were looking for. Very confusing.

Make sure you allow a good bit of time to go round and see the varied items in all the halls ranging from religious to armour to jewellery and much much more. If you fancy a break, there's a lovely cafe to get a refreshment and a cake too.

Great historical museum in Nuremberg's center. Largely housed in an old Gothic Carthusian monastery, there is a wide range to see from the early period to the Middle Ages to the early modern period.
The gold hat is an absolute showpiece. Currently in the special exhibition "The Last Ride. The wagon grave of Essenbach" housed he is in my opinion somewhat on the sidelines. Detailed descriptions of this gold hat can also be found on Wikipedia rather than on site in the museum.
I found the Behaim globe somewhat banished to the corner and poorly illuminated, which probably serves to protect the unique object.
The 10 Euro admission is well spent. The museum is sprawling and Unpacked. Worth seeing.

We are renting a car and coming from the airport. Is parking easily available?

This is from the Museum's English website:
Does the Museum have a parking lot?
There are city parking garages in the immediate vicinity of the Museum, e.g. below the Kornmarkt. The Museum does not have its own parking spaces.
I cannot perfectly answer your question about parking being "easily available", because I do not know how you mean "easily", but you shouldn't have any trouble finding a place to park close to the museum.
