I have been to the Kindertransport memorial which is in London at Liverpool Street station.
The one in Hamburg is just outside Dammtor station and very close to Planten und Blomen. It is good that there is a memorial to this. Families were separated and children sent to other countries because of their religion and the risk that they may have lost their lives had they remained.
It's important to see these memorials to remember what happened and make sure it never happens again.

Very impressive monument, but not immediately eye-catching. But it is worth taking a closer look (take the exit towards the fair). Unfortunately, very topical again, as Jewish life in Germany is subject to many hostilities.

A very well presented memorial, with plenty of space around it. Accessed easily from the train station towards the park area.

The original location was finally refurbished and all the area is beautifully renovated and actually connecting the park “Planten un Blohmen” to the Dammtor station . The monument was placed in the new area , you cannot miss it.

Nel centro di Amburgo il monumento “Kindertransport” che raffigura i bambini con le valigie, per lo più ebrei, che partono per l'Inghilterra al fine di sottrarsi alla furia nazista.

Ich komme regelmäßig zum Bahnhof Damtor und gehe von dort Richtung CCH. Und bestimmt bin ich schon dutzendfach da dieser Skulptur vorbeigelaufen, ohne sie überhaupt zu bemerken. Bis jetzt. Nur zufällig habe ich sie bemerkt, betrachtet und schließlich fotografiert. Ich bin beeindruckt und kann jedem nur empfehlen bei diesem Geheimtipp zur deutschen Geschichte zu verweilen und diese Skulptur auf sich wirken zu lassen.

Das Denkmal steht in der Hamburger Innenstadt vor dem südlichen Ausgang vom Dammtorbahnhof. Es wurde im Jahre 2015 durch den israelischen Bildhauer Frank Meister gestaltet.
Das aus Bronze gearbeitete Werk zeigt Kinder mit Koffern in der Hand, die Abschied nehmen. Erinnert wird an 12500 jüdische Kinder, die in den Jahren 1938 und 1939 vom Bahnhof Dammtor aus nach England in Sicherheit gebracht wurden.
An dem Sockel aus Granit sind mehrere Bronzetafeln angebracht. Es fehlen aber Informationen über die Geschehnisse. So kann man noch nicht einmal im Ansatz ermessen, was damals wirklich passierte. Wir haben das schlichte Werk als ausgesprochen ausdrucksstark und ergreifend empfunden. Hier sollte man einmal vorbeischauen.
