Very nice and interesting museum. Also great for children.
Make sure to allow enough time. We had 2 hours and that was too short, the last of the 9 floors it went quickly.

Visited the museum on 15 December 2024. Ten floors of boats, sea life and all the people who work it. The museum is massive tribe to maritime living with a plethora of exhibits, videos, artefacts and artistic endeavours.
There is a great deal to see and about four hours, perhaps more are needed to see the entirety of the museum.
Something that struck me was the lack of bias in the exhibits although there was definitely an Anglo-American focus. There were items and artifices from South American and east Asia.
There’s a nice gift shop and eateries in the museum. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Hamburg.

Very worth seeing, especially if you book a lecture or tour for small money. On the 9 decks, models predominate, which you have seen enough of after the first few hundred. The expanded store is an attraction in itself, it has been restored with a lot of money and so the museum fits perfectly into the harbour city. The diverse topics could be designed to be a little more interactive, but that was also how the hours flew by. 3- 4 hours are actually not enough, so we will gladly come back.

An overall beautiful and surprisingly large museum. The topic is presented in a very comprehensive way. The route (stairways) is sometimes a bit confusing and for my taste the focus of the upper floors was too much on the ship miniatures. There really are very, very many. Those who like them will get their money's worth here.
A few monitors/digital exhibits are broken, but fortunately this is still within limits.

There are countless ship models on display, as well as many uniforms, weapons, medals and paintings, many in display cases. Those who like that will be happy here. Nowadays, however, such a museum could also be designed to be more varied and interactive. At some point there is no desire for another showcase with another ship model.

The worlds largest collection of boat models is only a the start! Nine stories of history, artifacts fill this historic building. The art work of maritime master artists is outstanding, and by it self enough to enjoy ! A great way to spend time with history filled displays.

An excellent museum with a lot to see! You can easily use half a day here - if you like museums. If covers a wide range of subjects. An has a lot of nice ship models to study.

10 floors with everything possible regarding maritime.

As far as I remember there wasn't a english guided tour available but almost of the things you find inside have a english description or video guide.
