This is a Neo-classical style fountain monument dedicated to poet and writer Friedrich Stoltze (1816-1891) at Huhnermarkt. It was designed by F. Schierholz and erected at this location around 1895. Interestingly, the fountain was relocated between 1981-2016 when it returned as part of the Dom-Römer project works to redevelop the old town area.
What you see is an decorative, two-tier granite pedestal topped with a bronze bust of Stoltze. There are bas-reliefs as well as bronze doves from which water spills into three small basin elevated off the ground. It is an attractive fountain monument worth a few minutes to view while sightseeing nearby.

Born in Frankfurt in 1816, Friedrich Stoltze was a poet, writer and publisher in Frankfurt and advocated the national unity of Germany and a democratic and republican state. In 1860 he founded the weekly newspaper Die Frankfurter Latern, in which his satirical texts appeared. Today Stoltze is known primarily as a dialect poet.
The Stoltze Fountain is a monument in the neo-Renaissance style, designed by Friedrich Schierholz and created on Friedrich Stoltze's birthday, November 21, 1892 (a year after his death), on the Frankfurt Hühnermarkt square in the immediate vicinity of Stoltze's birthplace, but the ceremonial inauguration did not take place until November 2, 1895.
The Stoltze fountain is built on several levels: on a flat two-tiered granite pedestal rises a three-sided water basin with a fountain column made of red Main sandstone . This column bears a copy relief of Francofurtia, above which is a bronze bust of the poet. The capital of the column shows figures from Stoltze's works, including David with the cap, the Sick Man and the Red Chimney Sweep. The fountain ensemble is surrounded by a light metal grille about one meter high to protect it from damage

I saw this fountain with my girlfriend during a day in Frankfurt am Main. The work is located in a small square in the historic city center. It is a red stone column from where water constantly flows from nozzles on the circular perimeter. On the top there is a metal half bust. On the front there is information about the sculpture.

On the huhnermarkt stands this beautifully decorated monument with the bust of the German writer and poet Stoltze from the nineteenth century.

Walking through the historic center of Frankfurt I passed the old chicken market square in the Old Town. In the center of this square I found the monument of Friedrich Stoltze, German poet and writer. The Germans remember him because he was the first to commit himself to a single democratic and republican state. Famous are his poems in Mundart and the satirical weekly Frankfurter Latern published until his death.

The Friedrich Stoltze fountain was located in the old and more interesting part of Frankfurt (Huhnermarkt) and an interesting ststue of Stoltze who was a famous German poet and writer.

This is a statue / monument / fountain that is located in the old town of Frankfurt and within what is known as the chicken market. It is of the Frankfurt dialect poet Friedrich Stoltze. It was erected in 1892 by Friedrich Stoltze (1816 - 1891). It is worth a photo snap if in the area.

Good to use this as a destination point to find the area, which is really nice to see and wander around in, regardless of whether the statue does anything for you or not. Lovely square.

Der Stoltze-Brunnen befindet sich auf dem sogenannten Hühnermarkt, zwischen dem Frankfurter Römer und dem Kaiserdom in der Altstadt von Frankfurt am Main.
Der Brunnen wurde nach einem Entwurf von Friedrich Schierholz im Stil der Neorenaissance geschaffen und 1892 auf dem heutigen Ort aufgestellt.
Von 1981 bis 2016 stand der Brunnen jedoch auf dem Friedrich Stolze Platz, nachdem der Hühnermarkt im zweiten Weltkrieg völlig zerstört worden war.
Gerade in Kombination mit den bunten Häusern auf dem Hühnermarkt ist der Stolze Brunnen definitiv einen Besuch wert.
