Located in the heart of Bonn this museum is a delight and it’s free. It also has a reasonably large book/gift shop at very fair prices. The museum itself is free of charge and you’ll probably need at least and hour to get dictate yourself about Germany’s recent past from 1945 until the mid 2020s. Well worth popping in!

The museum is absolutely amazing! We spent hours exploring the exhibitions, and each room was a surprise. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely recommended if you are in Bonn.

The museum is very interesting and recommended. I was very much looking forward to visiting this with my children, but we found that the staff was very researchy and rough about my daughter with disabilities. My daughter was repeatedly given absolutely nothing to touch. Most items are behind glass anyway, so there is no danger of damaging anything. The other time she accidentally walked through a door that apparently wasn't meant to be a passage. My Recommendation would be to commit staff to training on inclusion for people with disabilities and special needs. The handling tone was absolutely inappropriate!

To do!! Especially since admission is free!! And if you have the flemme, know that the nearest metro station has a direct exit/entry into the museum with escalator in both directions. So whether it's "too hot" or "too cold", you have one less excuse!!
A concise summary with various media (posters, objects, films...) of life in the GDR between 1945 and auj. To tell you the part "Angela Merkel" is the smallest compared to the others.
The party in the DRC is on the period end of war and culture in the 2 R...A. The second one makes you smile and its advertising videos of the 50s and 60s in the FRG.
This museum is made to feel the affection of the inhabitants of these R...A between the 2nd GM and German reunification and then the period between 1990 and auj. We have to feel the joy of "Enfffiinn!! We can see the brother on the other side of the wall!!" from the period Nov. 1989 and Oct. 1990.
I loved the windows that show what former GDR officers are already, and the succinct non-tearful part about the immigrant "crisis".
Only regrettably, the cartels are only in German (sorry Hochdeutsch). But this "forces" us to use what we already know about the history of this country to understand why the object presented is interesting.

The Museum is great, to learn more about the history of Germany from 1945 to the present day. Free entry, very pedagogical and didactic, with free guide in Spanish through your own mobile phone. Very well organized, as squared as the Germans themselves. 25 minutes walk from the Zentrum, so quite well located. Worth, really

An absolute must if you are in Bonn... a fantastic representation of the history of our country since 1945!!! Processing, astonishment, unprocessed things, horror, confusion, wonderful things, bizarre things, funny things and much more - history you can touch!!! ... and think about, in order to perhaps understand and comprehend the past, present and future a little better...

While traveling from Cologne to Frankfurt decided to make a stop at this museum because of the great reviews here. Well worth the stop, in our opinion. Upon arrival there was already a hospitable reception by a greater. Although the subject of the museum might give you the idea this can be a 'dry' exposition. It is everything but that.

This is a great museum for anyone interested in contemporary history and politics. A successful combination of exhibits, reading boards and audio and occasionally video, although the latter could still be expanded. The period from 1945 to 1990 is very well prepared, but the period after that is only very selective and summarized in a few things, which is a shame, the story just goes on until now.
