Cologne Carnival, or better: riot
I've rarely seen something so stupid. Adults dressed up like monkeys. Drunken people everywhere, including young people. Everything covered in shit.
Happy people out and about as fair game. It's all just disgusting.

Zum ersten Mal vor Ort und ich bin enttäuscht. Der wesentlich zu langatmige Umzug besteht zum Großteil aus sympathischen und perfekt gestalteten, jedoch nahezu identischen Umzugswagen. Auf diesen stehen in deutlicher Mehrheit ältere, weiße, zumeist korpulente Männer, in bunten, nahezu identischen Uniformen, die den Zuschauern zuwinken. Sind Frauen und Menschen mit anderer Hautfarbe auf den Umzugswagen nicht zugelassen oder erwünscht? Das ist nicht mehr zeitgemäß.
Alles um den Umzug herum ist aufregend, bunt, kreativ, vielfältig, ausgelassen, fröhlich, sympathisch und sicherlich einmalig in Europa.

Ausgelassene Stimmung, schöner Umzug, es ist immer genial und lohnt sich immer. Natürlich ist alles etwas überteuert, aber damit rechnet man ja schon im Voraus. Der Besuch lohnt sich allemal !!!

This is a big giant spectacle all over the downtown area. They are parades and people in costume.
I only went once see the parade, since it was complete Mayhem. It doesn’t look it but this was the street going towards the parade.
There’s no way to feel lonely during karneval. You have to be holed up at home to avoid people during this time in the city.
Best to get into a costume and meld into the crowd.

Ho scoperto un lato del carattere tedesco che non conoscevo e che mai avrei immaginato: scordatevi lo stereotipo del tedesco serio, inquadrato, ecc. niente di più distante!
Ho scoperto un'atmosfera rilassata e divertita, persone stipate nel centro storico con un unico scopo: passare ore di puro divertimento.
Quasi tutte le persone si mascherano, dal semplice cappello tipico di Colonia ad elaborati costumi, anche in gruppi numerosi.
Musica e (immancabile) birra a fiumi.
Nonostante l'alcool e la quantità di persone racchiuse in uno spazio definito, ho visto un'organizzazione, quella si, teutonica e nessun incidente.
Ho scoperto un'atmosfera rilassata e divertita, persone stipate nel centro storico con un unico scopo: passare ore di puro divertimento.
Quasi tutte le persone si mascherano, dal semplice cappello tipico di Colonia ad elaborati costumi, anche in gruppi numerosi.
