• Great scenic hike of 30-40 minutes
• Steady gradual uphill exercise
• Beautiful Biblical appearing hills
• Amazing archaeological excavations
• See First Temple housing dwellings
• Living history from the time of King David
• Fantastic 360 panoramic vistas from top
• View the battlefield of David and Goliath
• Breath fresh robust clear air
• Free of admission charge
CONS
•.Access only by car from route 38 north
• Vehicles travel the hiking trail
• No guides and no explanation signs
• An active archaeological site
• Be aware of open pits of digging
• New buildings ruining the scenery
• Possible noise of annoying construction
MY EXPERIENCE
“I visited this place” many times and have taken many visitors to explain the place and its significance- see the attached web page that I added to this when I created the page.
I love the relaxing mildly challenging hike. I always pretend to try and hitch a ride with the cars of those driving the dirt trail instead of hiking.
The scenery, the excavations and the views are outstanding. I’d be happy to go back.
TIPS
• Go now before the metastasis of construction of Ramat Bet Shemesh X reaches the actual site and totally destroys the pristine Biblical purity.
• Park the car after the dirt turnoff from route 38 north and follows the hand written signs.
• Great scenic hike of 30-40 minutes
