Beach quieter than Torrenueva, we liked for the famous Calahonda race -carchuna and sure we will go for a swim, as the place is nice, with a large parking lot, and sandy without being very stone.

Clean and quiet beach with blue flag
The water is crystal clear and the beach is large so there are usually no crowds.

It is my beach since childhood, it has everything. Direct views of those cool waters, crystal clear waters... I can't be objective. I love !

Many people confuse this place with a beach in Nerja close to the Balcon de Europa. This is the beach in the town of Calahonda. The color of the water and the clift to the right are awesome. The sand is not great a bit worse than others. Do not eat at the hotel Embarcadero restaurant it was the worst and most expensive meal of the entire trip. The service is very good, have a drink there.

Sorry but this photo gives a bad impression. It is a wide beach (environmentally conscious) and a quiet town. Hotel Ancla. ( Avenida los Geránios,1, 18730 Calahonda, Espagne). Very Spanish. Few hotels. We stayed in a family run hotel which may have been the only one in the past... still running strong. Agacent to a lively street (on the weekends) in the middle of the town. Camping at the edge of the town. Diving possibilities. Local Church on the weekends. Very interesting geographically, mountain climbing possibilities within 30 kms locally.

A very craggy coastline provided some nice views but getting in and out of the sea was difficult with all the rocks. Definitely not a beach for families with small children. There are much better beaches further west at Estepona and Duquesa. A choice of beach bars but check your bill - 3 times in a week we were overcharged!

Es una playa orientada a gente que tiene su segunda residencia en Calahonda. Muchas familia, ambiente tranquilo. Algún niño un poco molesto. Nada reseñable.

The Calahonda Beach has an easy access down from the Balcon de Europa. The view over the sea is beautiful. Rather crowed in August.

We are staying in Calahonda..... in Mid June
Everything I have been reading the beach is not much of a beach, crowded to small, etc... hearing mixed reviews.
Looking for recommendations on any other close by Beaches, clean, quiet, etc........
Is the water warm in June.
Or maybe Calahonda is not so bad after all, just one bad review ???
We like to Snorkel, hike, Ancient Sites, explore coastline, beautiful beaches, not so touristy, etc.....
Appreciate anybody input out there, thanks for taking the time

It’s a great area. I have stayed many times. Walk to the left on the boardwalk to La Cala de Mijas walk to the right on the boardwalk to Cabopino some lovely areas of beach both ways. Some great beach bars too. Lovely sight seeing up in the quaint village of mijas with great views of the coastline. Also not far to drive down to Gibraltar another great day for history and sightseeing Enjoy!
