We are 8 'ladies who lunch' going to Malaga for 5 days over a weekend in Sept. Where's best to eat, and visit, given we like, food, wine, walking, shopping, art, beach etc.? Is a day trip to Marbella for lunch a nice idea?
We didnt make it to Marbella unfortunately but we heard that it is nice. There are a TON of choices for dining in old town Malaga. You an easily spend days walking through the area trying different tapas, sampling the wine, stopping and experienceing the Picasso and Russian museums ( and there are a couple of others we didn't see). For a nice but touristy place you can stop at El Pimpi for a drink, a snack or dinner. If you take the evening "We Love Malaga" tour you will be introduced to Los Gatos, which is a tapas place that serves tapas typical of Madrid which is a fun place with good food and wine. If you like Sangria be sure to try Tinto Verano, it is a local favorite of wine, fruit and citriu soda. If you feel like getting away, we stayed in El Pallo while we were there and highly recommend both the Chiringuitos ( beach restaurants ) and a little gem Gastrobar Gallarvi. I hope you have a lovely time in Malaga.
