Arreglada por dentro y por fuera. Iglesia típica andaluza con mezcla de dorado en los altares y color blanco en las paredes. Situada en el centro junto a la zona de murallas.

Beautiful little church

The simple whitewashed exterior hides a beautiful little church. We were able to slip in on a Saturday afternoon as a wedding was ending. Beautiful chapels with richly decorated altars.

It sits on a small plaza with a fountain and some statues.

Building of worship built on a mosque

It was in 1485 when the Christian armies conquered Marbella and it was the starting point of the construction of religious buildings, specially trying to use the floors of the previous mosques and Muslim buildings to eliminate any trace of the previous religion. In 1505 they built the "Saint Mary of the Incarnation" church upon the ground floor of a mosque.

Como muchos templos, en este caso, los Reyes Catolicos, dio instrucciones para convertir ina antigua mezquita en iglesia.

Lovely church in the Old Town

Whilst strolling around the old town near the ancient city wall, we came across this lovely church. We went inside to light candles in remembrance of loved ones and were very impressed with the stunning interior. Very richly decorated with a beautiful gold leaf altar and ornate religious artwork. Peaceful sanctuary to quietly walk around or just sit on the pews to take in the spiritual atmosphere.

Nice cathedral in the city centre

Located in the centre of the city and built between the XVI and the XVIII century. We past here a few times and found it open one evening during worship time. If your in the area and it’s open, its worth a quick peek inside before the worship session starts.
