Monte Toro, is the tallest hill of the island of Menorca.
We took a bus from Ciutadella to Es Mercadal (#01 to Mao) and then walked up to the top of El Toro. The journey up takes about 60 minutes despite being just around 2 miles, as the gradient is quite steep in places. The good news is that the walk down only takes 40 minutes.
At the summit, try to ignore the satellite dishes and phone masts (which is difficult, I know) and take on board the wonderful panoramic views across the island. The Statue of Christ is impressive and the church is well worth a visit. We were grateful that there was also a bar/restaurant on site where we could have a beer before the return to catch the bus in Es Mercadal.

Amazing views of the whole of the island. We travelled as 4 adults in our little hire car to find a great spacious car park at the top.
Great views of the island. Lovely little church at the top - which is so serene and peaceful.
Fantastic little cafe with also great views to drop for a cold drink & ice cream. Toilets accessible from cafe for customers or for a small fee using the turnstile.
Would recommend visiting.

Up a winding road from Es Mercadal and the views are superb. Small church, a statue of Christ, small shop and a reasonable cafe / restaurant. Nice ambience and worth it for the great views of the island alone.

This is one of the greatest attractions I've seen with the incredible architecture and buildings on the tallest hill in Menorca, you can see the entire island around you and its really good to see, The architecture is breathtaking with intricate details and soaring arches that create a sense of grandeur and reverence and inside the church its just impressive with its beautiful stained glass windows and its peaceful atmosphere as people walk around and explore what's inside. There is also a shop which has a lot of good stuff and nice drinks, Would Go Again.

Visited this afternoon. On arrival it was lovely, with beautiful views. The church and little shop were fab and there was plenty of parking.
Unfortunately there were some really selfish people who decided to park up (music blaring) in the lower car park and smoke something funky which polluted the air and made it impossible to breathe so we had to leave.
Such a shame other people ruin things for others.

Con sus casi 350 metros es el punto más alto de la isla y casi en el centro geográfico las vistas son impresionantes. Por la cara norte se ve la bahía de Fornells. La iglesia en si no tiene demasiado interés.

Our day excursion from Fornells took us to the top of Monte Torro. Fortunately, we had the luxury of taking a bus ride so did not have to navigate the twists and turns in the road by auto. That would not have ended well.
The view were pure eye candy and so very enjoyable! Vast expanses of hillsides, fields, and water in the distance made this (for us) an absolute pleasure.
Our bus did stop at the top, pretty much where the large Christ statue spreads his arms (similar to the Christ statue in Lisbon, Portugal).
There is also a bronze sculpture of Father Pedro Camps, a Menorcan, who went to Florida with a group of Menorcan settlers. Conditions were extremely harsh and his care of and for the people was vitally important. And thus, he is honored here (as well as in Florida).
Atop Monte Torro is a sanctuary/church, a tower from Medieval times, a gift shop and restaurant, and expansive grounds, as well as that really large statue of the welcoming Christ.

If you visit Menorca, this should be a MUST.
Fantastic views and an easy - if a slightly nerve-wracking ascent and descent as you go up quite quickly!

well worth getting a hire car for Menorca, that way you can drive up! Parking not great up the top though!

I'm afraid not. You can access it by car or bicycle, but I don't think you can walk up that road to the peak of the mountain. Apologies, hope this helps!

L'ho visto fare proprio da monte toro, due ragazzi con due parapendii di cui uno che viaggiava in doppio, penso fosse un istruttore. I parenti di uno dei ragazzi lo guardavano dal bar dietro alla basilica. Fossi in te proverei a chiedere proprio a loro, a quelli del bar !!! Ciao Ciaoooo
