We passed by here on our way from Puerto de la Cruz to the Teide Volcano. It is a beautiful area, full of greenery. Forest, from place to place, few houses, small agricultural lands, domestic animals from place to place.
I see that many people have posted reviews about the town of La Orotava, which is completely different thing.

Tras visitar el Parque Nacional del Teide bajamos la este bonito valle, con mucha vegetación, por una carretera bastante sinuosa con miradores cada cierto tiempo y unas vistas impresionantes. El pueblo de La Orotava es pintoresco y auténtico, merece las pena una visita.

Very nice nature with picturesque towns. I give 4/5 stars because if I had to choose I would rather visit Anaga Rural Park, but if you had time, both of them are really worth it!

Yes, we did have to mooch around a bit and it was only March but we found free parking with no limit. Slightly further out there are other car parks.
The town itself is very pretty. Lots of very old buildings, with “balconies” being the theme here. It was 32degrees and so the excellent ice cream shop in the town opposite the huge pink municipal building at the top of the cobbled Main Street was “a find”!
A large old church (or two or three) as you’d expect. Quaint little roads and alleys. An enjoyable hour or so of walking around. There are also museums and art galleries if you haven’t already walked 10km in Teide National Park 😁🥵

Durante il nostro soggiorno a Tenerife, siamo tornati dopo diversi anni in questa suggestiva cittadina in stile coloniale, in bellissima posizione panoramica e dominante dove è possibile ammirare la vallata ed il mare; il centro storico con edifici caratterizzati dai balconi in legno e i numerosi giardini con piante e fiori dai colori stupendi e originari da vari paesi del mondo, rendono suggestiva la visita!🌴🌺🏜🧡

A walk round the old town with its balconies is worthwhile! Nice little shops and a great (if small) botanic garden as well as a lovely formal park.

Hacer mención en exclusiva a la ciudad de La Orotava, muy bonita con mucho encanto, museos, iglesias, jardines y las calles del casco antiguo adornadas con las casas palacios, mansiones aristocráticas con escudos en sus fachadas, los balcones construidos en madera, demostrando el pasado histórico. yes there are a number of trecking companies that pick you up inPDLC and both transport you to and guide you round the valley for 25-40 euros brochures in german

I would suggest one. While it is possible to travel throughout the valley on your own with a guide book as a companion, I think a far better experience would be had with a guide. Local guides run the range from exceptionally inexpensive (with little creature comforts and requiring you to drive...and possible poor language skills) to luxurious (which may be over the top for what you want/need). Check out the private tour guides section for the valley on Trip Advisor and select one that best serves your needs.
