It is worth spending three or four days in the city. Visiting the cathedral and the Museum of Evolution and eating at home Ojeda are essential.

Nice square, well maintained and with terraces for a drink.
The Cordon house impresses on the outside and gives an idea of what the one who built it wanted to prove.

La Casa del Cordón es conocida así por el cordón franciscano que adorna su entrada principal. Es un símbolo de la arquitectura civil burgalesa de finales del siglo XV. Construida por encargo de los Condestables de Castilla como residencia, sus muros acogieron la visita de reyes y fue escenario de importantes eventos políticos y sociales.
En la fachada principal una inscripción recuerda el recibimiento de los Reyes Católicos a Cristóbal Colón después de su regreso del segundo viaje a América. El palacio también fue escenario de la muerte del rey Felipe el Bello y otros acontecimientos históricos como la firma de las Leyes de Burgos, las primeras que regulaban el tratamiento a los indios en el Nuevo Mundo y abolían la esclavitud de los indígenas.
El palacio pertenece actualmente a una entidad bancaria. A través de la Fundación Caja de Burgos, se llevan a cabo múltiples actividades culturales en su espacio Cultural Cordó.
En la fachada principal una inscripción recuerda el recibimiento de los Reyes Católicos a Cristóbal Colón después de su regreso del segundo viaje a América. On April 23, 1497, Isabella and Fernando received Columbus here in this palace after returning from his 2nd journey to America.

On Santander Street, 200 meters north of the Teatro Principal, we found a building that had the distant features of a classical medieval palace. It is the bank Caja de Burgos that has equipped Casa del Cordón beyond recognition with large modern windows into large modern banking premises.
"Casa del Cordón", once a large palace with an impressive courtyard, was built in the 15th century for the ruling class of Castile and was a long-held court. Here, for example, the Catholic monarchs received Christopher Columbus when he returned from his second voyage to the New World, on April 23, 1497. Here Ferdinand II was appointed regent of Aragon and it was here that he received Pope Julius II. The courts of 1515, which approved the union of the kingdoms of Navarre and Castile, were also held here.
But kings come and go, everything changes and at the beginning of the 20th century the house had lost all its former glory, Casa del Cordón was more like an ordinary apartment building. In the mid-1980s, Caja de Burgos intervened and began a complete renovation. The courtyard was covered and became bank premises and in 1987 the new building was inaugurated. The good side is that the bank has also arranged a cultural center which includes an auditorium and a hall which is sometimes used for exhibitions and other cultural activities.

The Casa del Cordon is a palace in which the constables lived and from what I understand it was the palace where the kings stayed when they traveled to burgos, in that palace the Catholic kings received Christopher Columbus from his second voyage and where Felipe died the beautiful.

Mala experiencia, fuimos un sábado y estaba cerrado. Mala atención para los turistas que visitamos Burgos en fin de semana. Una decepción no poder visitar este monumento histórico que ha pasado a manos de banqueros. No obstante, por fuera la fachada es impresionante.

La Casa de Cordón o Palacio de los Consestables, es un precioso palacio gótico atribuido a Juan y Simón de Colonia mandado construir por los Condestables Pedro Fernández de Velasco y su mujer Mencia de Mendoza y Figueroa. Su nombre proviene del Cordón franciscano de su fachada que enmarca los motivos heráldicos de sus promotores Velasco y Mendoza (unas cadenas o un cordón eran señal de que habían albergado a un rey). Dentro de sus muros han sucedio numeros hechos históricos, fue sede de la corte y recibió la visita de muchos reyes. El 23 de abril de 1497 los Reyes Católicos reciben en este palacio a Cristóbal Colón de vuelta de su segundo viaja a América, lugar de muerte de Felipe el hermoso, aquí se formará el consejo de regencia de Carlos I, se recibirá al Papa Julio II y en esta casa se celebrará la unión de Navarra a la Corona de Castilla. En el se alojarán Carlos I, Felipe III y Felipe V. Uno de los lugares con más historia de Burgos.

Il Palazzo dei Conestabili di Castiglia , noto come Casa del Cordón , è un palazzo del XV secolo in stile gotico che sorge nel centro storico di Burgos vicino alla plaza Mayor.Ora sede di una banca, per cui vale la pena osservarla solo da fuori.

Este fantástico Palacio de los Condestables de Castilla, es un edificio gótico del siglo XV. Se le conoce como Casa del Cordón por el maravilloso cordón franciscano que se encuentra adornando la puerta principal.
En este edificio tuvo lugar el encuentro de los Reyes Católicos con Cristóbal Colón a la vuelta del segundo viaje a América.
También falleció en este edificio el rey Felipe el Hermoso.
El edificio es obra de Simón de Colonia.
