The house of pinchos is one of the great works of Catalan modernism, the work of the architect José Puig i Cadafalch. Although its name is CasaTerradas (which was the family that commissioned the work), it receives the popular name of the spikes precisely because one of the most striking elements of the building is having 6 pointed towers.

This spectacular building is one of the most emblematic of Barcelona and Catalonia. In 1975 it was declared a national historic monument. Currently, it is privately owned. It cannot be visited, but it can be rented for coworking or to organize private events.
It is one of the essential visits to learn about Catalan modernism.

One of my favorite examples of Modernista architecture, this apartment building looks like an old castle. Whimsical, grand. It is shown off at a corner on the busy and broad Diagonal Avenida. I've taken many photos.

Regrettably the Café was still undergoing refurbishment, so didn’t get to gaze at the interior. But captivated by the exquisite profile of the expansive edifice more than compensated.
Revamped by Josep Puig i Cadafalch at the commission of the three Terradas sisters, he completed the project in 1905.
It is a supreme example of the incomparable Catalan modernisme.

The House with Thorns was built by the architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch between 1903 and 1905 and is the most famous work of this architect. The name "House with Thorns" was given to the building because of the six conical towers with spiers. The house was built by order of the three Terrades sisters. In 2003, another reconstruction was completed, close to the original design of the architect.

Дом потрясает воображение! Известен ещё ка "Дом с шипами", а поскольку был заказан архитектору (имя и фамилию не выговорю) трёмя сёстрами - то и "чеховским" названием. Архитектор закончил работу в 1905 году и по слухам хотел совместить воедино фламандскую ратушу и средневековый замок - получилось это великолепие. В здании проводятся экскурсии и есть аудиогид на нескольких языках. Рекомендую!

Es un edificación donde uno se queda asombrado, hay que detenerse para ver cada detalle. Una construcción de diseño modernista con seis torres puntiagudas que se destacan, por eso se llama Casa de los Pinchos. Parece un castillo medieval. Actualmente es propiedad privada y funcionan algunas oficinas. Nosotros solamente vimos su parte exterior.
