Our guide Lynda was wonderful. She talked about history and its effect on foods and explained what we were going to be eating and often the history behind each food.
I have severe seafood allergies and always worry about getting sick when I eat out. She made sure to tell everyone when she was ordering and a few times ordered something different for me. I always felt safe

Such a fantastic food tour. Lynda introduced us to a range of local Catalan food vendors in the Gracia neighbourhood. We were away from the main tourist areas of the city and got a small insight into Barcelona history, life and food culture. Highly recommended!

Sants is where the main train station is in Barcelona, and the working-class neighbourhood around it is full of history and delicious food. We had the chance to be with Senem this tour for the second time, and again her knowledge, friendliness, and ability to convey her enthusiasm for the people and their passions really made this a special tour. We started with breakfast in the market, taken from a prepared food stall that was fresh and light, and moved on to a butchery for Iberico ham (and the most remarkable vending machine ever!) ending up with a surprise tasting at a special sweet shop with a lineup full of friendly folks waiting patiently to get their Christmas treats. That spontaneity is what characterizes these Culinary Backstreets tours: guides who know the people and the places, an ability to 'read' the visitors to be able to share what's special and what we might want to know, and a generosity of spirit that stays with us long after the tour is over.

We always try to do Culinary Backstreets visits at the beginning of a trip. Doing the Catalán tour gave us insights into the culture and the food which we wouldn't have had otherwise and which stayed with us for the rest of our visit. Senem was so knowledgeable -- and clearly very well known and loved by all the restaurateurs and vendors we met along the way. We loved the first stop, La Pubilla, so much that we went back for dinner, and the visit to Mercat de Libertad provided us some great insights as to how the municipality of Barcelona manages its public markets. The house vermut at the very old school Bar Canigo was another highlight -- a great way to open our appetite for the rest of our tour.

Senam was an amazing tour guide offering history, culture, and insights into amazing food! Would recommend this tour in one of your first few days visiting the city as it’s a cheat code to experiencing Barcelona!

We are huge fans of Culinary Backstreets - this is our fourth tour with the company. They never disappoint! We enjoyed every stop on our tour. Our group ranged in age from 4 to 71 and our guide, Lynda, did a great job engaging with us all. Thank you, Lynda!

I would highly recommend culinary backstreets to anyone that has a chance to take a tour. It is an absolutely incredible way to experience the city, eat the food that the locals eat and Senem was an amazing tour/food guide. She had so much knowledge on the food, the origins, the culture and the history. I now want to do these tours in every city that has them!

This is an amazing tour. Sanem is great, she not only showed us the food also edicated us on local culture and people. Highly recommend and I wish we had more time we would have done the second tour by her as well. In culinary backstreet is a wonderful way to get to know local culture and cousin.

This was our third CB walk in Barcelona and it was again superb. Pam was an excellent guide with extensive knowledge of both the food and the local area. The locations we visited were, despite us being obvious tourists, welcoming and friendly. The food tastings were unique from many of those on the previous walks, though many locations were similar - old, family-run places that have endured because they are so good at what they do. Highlights were the Bodega Salvat for vermouth and nibblies, and the Bar-Bodega Bartoli for the fricandò.

We had a wonderful time with Senem touring the bodegas of Barcelona. This was a pretty boozy morning with many samples of wine and vermut, plus traditional food from the market and small shops along the way. You feel like you are getting let in on the secret of the city, especially when she took us to places you would not know were the real hidden gems. Senem was very knowledgeable, personable and friendly. We have been with Culinary Backstreets all over the world and this was one of the best!

I think you can probably do both tours. The Culinary Backstreets guides are so helpful and if you let your guide know your schedule, they will accommodate and even give you directions.

We did the Catalonia tour. I really can't add anything different to what is said above. I don't think you can go wrong with either tour. Catalonia I think is just a very particular cuisine that is only available here which is why we chose it over the Mediterranean. Have fun!
