Beautiful Baroque is its hallmark. Completed in the mid 1700s it is certainly imposing in the pleasant atmospheric Plaça.
Impressive stone work constitutes the façade. It may well provide social supports and help to some disadvantaged people in the vicinity.

Located within Raval is this lovely church, the facade is quite deteriorated however it adds to the charm, the mural on the righthand side adds to it beauty, the interior has high vaulted ceilings, definitely worth a visit.

Llamada de Sant Agustí Nou (nuevo) en contraposición al viejo (vell) que se ubicaba en el barrio de la Ribera y derruido para construir la Ciudadela. Gran edificio neoclásico que es lo único que ha sobrevivido al convento. Gran labor asistencial en el barrio donde hay una importante bolsa de inmigrantes. Como dato curioso, misas en castellano y filipino.
En Semana Santa, punto de inicio de las procesiones en Barcelona, pues acoge a Real Hermandad y Cofradía de Nazarenos de Nuestro Padre Jesús del Gran Poder y María Santísima de la Esperanza Macarena.

The Parroquia de San Agustin is a parish church located in the El Raval district of Barcelona. I was actually just walking back from the Rambla El Raval to my hotel when I saw a large crowd of Filipinos around a church. It turned out there was a large party from the Philippines attending mass at this church, so I thought I go in anyway.
Because there was a service, I stayed back as much as possible. I could see that the church is a mix of Baroque and Neo-Palladiam, with an alter that features an image of St. Augustine. Some of the chapels were quite attractive rather than magnificent, the Chapel of the Brotherhood of the Great Power and of the Hope Macarena being case in point.
The church is nice enough, but I certainly wouldn't go out of the way to see it.

La zona del Raval no cuenta con muchas iglesias por lo que la Parroquia de San Agustín por su historia y ubicación es, tal vez, la mas importante de la zona. A pocos pasos de Las Ramblas.

La parroquia de San Agustin esta ubicada en la Plaza del mismo nombre, en la calle Hospital de Barcelona, es muy conocida por mi i mi señora pues nos casamos en ella,

An impressive and large place of worship in a square off Las Ramblas. It is an area that had small groups of men gathered together that left us feeling not too secure - the inside of the Church is a quiet place of sanctuary from what surrounds it. It is a large area that is both beautiful yet understated, especially compared to other places of high ornamentation.
