During a Guided Tour of the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona, our talented guide stopped in this lesser known square of Barcelona, telling the story of it and the bombings of the Italian air force of 1938. A story that we have forgotten in Italy, but that is more alive here than ever, also because the Spanish governments have decided not to remove traces of it.

This square has walls with bomb blasts all over them from a war. I believe the Spanish Civil War. The are not repaired so people can remember their history.

It is one of those little corners that Barcelona offers to visitors who like to discover the city on foot. The name is due to the fact that the Baroque Church of the same name is located in this square. Other buildings with Renaissance facades complete the monumentality of the square.

Ironically now a peaceful square only a few metres from the crowded alleys of the old town. During the civil war a bomb exploded which you can still see at the walls of the church.

A beautiful, quiet little place in the Gothic Quarter. Beautiful large trees provide welcome shade in summer. The historical aspect is not forgotten with the affection Gaudi had for it.

Cette petite place demeure l'une des plus belles que nous ayons visitées à Barcelone. Très menue, entourée de vieux bâtiments dont un hôtel Relais et Châteaux. Située dans le quartier gothique, elle garde encore les marques de la guerre civile.

A lovely tranquil (at least at our visit) Plaza has a duo of landmarks.
Outstandingly, the first is the eponymous great Church. Secondly at the centre is a fine fountain dedicated to life and all its mysteries.

Falaram ser das regioes mais tranquilas do Bairro Gotico, mas quando fui estava lotada de criancas e muitas brincadeiras. Talvez pelo dia... INcrivel ver as marcas deixadas nas paredes pelas explosoes da bomba. Espero que aprendamos que violencia nao constroi nada de positivo. Falaram que Shakira ama um restaurante que fica em frente a esta praça

I never saw the church open. I know some days they celebrate concerts inside the church, but the Square is beautiful.
