The new edition of the Ages of Man is on display in the Church of the Monastery of San Martin Pinario. It is a magnificent opportunity to visit this exhibition within the naves of the Church; visits are guided. We did it with Alex and it was extraordinary. Within the Church there are nine spaces where through very chosen works of art, paintings, sculptures, goldsmiths, ornamentation, works of the Church itself and most loans of convents and other religious spaces along the way, they travel that path with the sense of "hospitality" until they reach Santiago, the Grace of Encounter. The explanation was very pleasant and detailed and the best, we knew the Church and the history of this Monastery. It is very unique that the choir is not located in the main nave, in front of the Altar, but is located behind the girola, in a space of collection and private for the monks; given the power and resources of them, two organs were installed, competing with the cathedral itself. Another part of the exhibition is visited in the crypt of the Cathedral of Santiago. Until November. Go see her!!!!!

Quaint location, as it is a monastery so the rooms have their charm. Impeccable rooms with a beautiful view of the town. The bathrooms are quite small, as well as the shower. Beds are very comfortable. There is a heated towel rail, so you can wash clothes. Breakfast was not great, very little fresh, good-tasting food.

One of the most impressive buildings in Santiago de Compostela, located near the cathedral. It is part of one of the most beautiful urban areas in the world.

I was very disappointed with the visit. There was a lot of humidity, to the point that you couldn't see what was inside the display cases because they were all fogged up. On the top floor we couldn't see the pharmacy because all the lights were off.
The treatment of the person at the ticket office was also not as desired, to the point that he told us that since they spent 5 minutes of their departure time, they were wasting their time with us. Not accepting our complaints.

It has been a long time since I visited the San Martín museum and this weekend I was absolutely devastated by the state of the museum. The level of humidity was 100% and the display cases were so foggy that nothing could be seen inside, the dehumidifiers were scarce and not emptied, the lights were out (in the pharmacy 4 were off and the only one left on half gas and flickering), the irons of white mold etching and several closed rooms.

This monastery is located next to the Santiago Cathedral and was recommended to us by our local guide. The guided tours are supposed to be fantastic (and are the only way to see the cloisters), but are only done in Spanish so we opted to walk around on our own. The baroque altars were fabulous and we were amazed at the three dimensional decorations all around the main altar. Be sure to walk behind the main altar to check out the intricately carved wooden choir stalls. In addition to the baroque church with its many side altars you have access to other areas to view the antique printing presses and the very detailed stamps used to make the book pages. We were so glad we took this tour!

Incredible building, a sample of Galician baroque, that competes for attention with the cathedral and is a great example of beauty. It was founded by Benedictine monks in a place called Pignario in the 10th century, after the discovery of the remains of the Apostle and has subsequently undergone great modifications. My wife's uncle who studied medicine in Santiago de Compostela told me that it is the second largest in Spain, only surpassed by Escorial. It is a must-see when visiting Santiago after the cathedral.
