Castelo do Castro is a Renaissance fortification of polygonal shapes, among which its imposing strongholds stand out. Located atop Monte do Castro, this fortification enjoyed a strategic position in the control of the estuary and defense of Vigo. Today we can tour its strongholds and landscaped areas while enjoying the views of the city of Vigo.

Nice old fortress at the main park of Vigo, nice to explore but unfortunately all of the placards I saw were all in Spanish nothing spelled out in English (which would have been nice the history), appeared to be dated from the 1400's.
Breathtaking views though.
Be careful walking around to get up & down.
Definitely recommend the visit.

A great place yo get a Birds Eye view of the estuary and town of Vigo.
There is an assent from the parking area, mainly laid to square granite stone cobbles, but also compacted gravel.
Enjoy ry into the fort includes steps!
The place is well maintained and well worth visiting.
There is also a museum which we didn’t visit this time.

Very good castle in the center of Vigo where there is a viewpoint overlooking Vigo, its port and the entire Ria de Vigo. The worst is the enormous cost that has to be climbed to reach it but it is worth the effort.
Admission is free and depending on the time of day you go there is a free Guide that will tell you all the history of the site.

The place is beautiful! It has an amazing view of Vigo, besides history. The city of Vigo began there in Castro Celta, in III BC. It is very important to make a guided tour to understand the history and visit some parts of the walls that still remain.

The fortress sits above the city and port, has some great views
Everything is in good condition, it is a steep hill to get there, however it is worth the trek, just take your time.

Short uphill walk from the port. Approx 30-45mins at a slow pace. Can be done easily with small children. Ideal venture for people stopping on a cruise ship. On the way back be sure to stop at Pastelería Sémola bakery for coffee/cake and Garatuxa for a few glasses of local wine :-)

We walked up the steps to see the fortress and it was worth the climb.
There are information boards which include descriptions in english of the significance of the historical site so you can have some idea of it’s role and importance through the ages.
There appears to be an apartment building in the middle of it, anyone inside will have fantastic views of the city as they are impressive enough at ground level from the ramparts.
Definitely worth seeing when you are in Vigo, costs nothing more than a good workout for your legs.

We were here for the day and decided to take a walk up to the castle. Some nice views. Then we stopped at this cafe and were charged tourist prices 8€ for two ordinary coffees.
