We were here for the day and decided to take a walk up to the castle. Some nice views. Then we stopped at this cafe and were charged tourist prices 8€ for two ordinary coffees.

Excelente local para ter uma vista panorâmica da cidade, ria e ilhas Cies.

Un castillo o fortaleza pequeño pero bien conservado. Lo mejor son las vistas y el parque a su alrededor.

Castro's Fortress are the remains of a castle located in a high zone in Vigo, the biggest city in Galicia Region, in the North of Spain. It is located in a park, where it is nice walk and see the views of the city, the harbour and the sea. If you arrive at the highest point, you can see the remains of the fortress, which is not well-preserved. A good place to come with children and do a pic-nic.

Foi ótima a viagem, de um dia apenas, sozinha. Sai de trem da Estacao de Porto-Campanha, Portugal, com destino a Vigo, Galícia, Espanha. Foi uma viagem tranquila, curtida desde a espera na estacao, sempre confirmando se estava no lugar certo, na hora certa, no trem certo...rsrsrs... A vista que se tem de Vigo, a partir do Castro's Fortress é linda... Valeu uito a pena ter feito essa viagem de um dia apenas para Vigo. Quando comecei a andar pela cidade de Vigo, visitando os locais que já havia pesquisado em alguns sites da internet, parecia que já sabia onde tudo estava. Tive algumas dúvidas de localizacao que me foram esclarecidas pelas pessoas espanholas a quem me dirigi. Geralmente muito solicitas ao oferecerem suas dicas. Valeu a pena, de novo!!!!

We visited the Castro Fortress while on a cruise. We had read that it was worth the 30 minute walk, all up hill, and we were not disappointed. There are some information boards around to inform you of its history and there are some great views of the surrounding area. There are some really good photo opportunities to be had both within the fortress and views across the bay. There is no entrance fee but do check that it is open as I think the gates get closed in the evening.
We are quite pleased we made the effort in the end.

Cruise ship was supposed to stop in Lisbon but winds wouldn't let us so came to Vigo instead. Made the climb up to the fortress. It is interesting but I wish some of the buildings were open with displays of the era. The views are stunning.

When its not beach weather there is not a great deal to do in Vigo. As such its not surprising many cruise ship passengers climb the many steps to get a great view of their ship and the wider bay. You will then not feel as guilty when you get back on the ship

solamente se puede hacer pinic en la playa de samil, excepto en verano, por la saturación de gente en la playa y en la zona ajardinada.

Depende de donde venga, tiene servicio de autobuses tanto regionales como nacionales con destino a la estación de autobuses de vigo, muy cerquita del monumento de los caballos.
