Much easier to get to park from other end, coming from the Monumento a los Caballos (horse statue) then the side that feels like hundreds of steps.
Good amount of hiking but very nice areas to check out including the views from above.
Definitely go up to the fortress also.

Park located in the central region of the city and in which houses the castle where the village was born. From above you can have a 360° view of the city of Vigo.

Situated on the highest hill in the port area, this thick walled bastion of protection for the city is worth exploring; enjoy the lovely views out over Vigo and the port area. It’s free to enter and worth the climb up the well maintained stairs.

Beautiful park located in the upper part of the city of Vigo, whose main attraction is the Castelo do Castro, an ancient fortress conveniently restored. The best, in my opinion, are the views.

We took the walk up to Parque Monte del Castro passing through the historic centre, the view from above is fantastic... absolutely worth doing.

The day did not help us since a persistent drizzle accompanied us. The park is very beautiful, you advance by car surrounding the mountain. You can see a fort and above are the ruins of the castle. The most impressive thing is the views of the estuary.

It was well worth the climb through a beautiful park for the spectacular views of the city and water. It was also good to get a sense of the important history.

Visited park on an organised coach tour with an official guide. Very crowded park due to its popularity with many coaches and not easy to access as it required a walk up a fairly steep climb and steep steps to the viewing platform. So not suitable for people with mobility issues. View from the top was amazing and a worthwhile visit in spite of the limitations on access.

We are arriving in Vigo by train and will probably only have a few hours before catching a train?/bus? to Santiago de Compostela. How long would it take to walk up to the viewing point in the Parque Monte del Castro? Any other suggestions for a brief stop in Vigo would also be welcome. Thanks,

Monte del Castro is a park centred on the peak of a steep hill - from base to top a good half hour if you are moderately fit. Actually not that scenic either. Vigo seems more of a working city than for non-native day tourists. There is a maritime museum, but it is a long way from the station, albeit it is then close to a nice promenade. Just walking the streets was interesting - we walked and even worked out some bus routes. There is a shellfish area just up from the port - entertaining.

Entrand en la ciudad por la A-55 se llega a la Plaza de España, fácilmente reconocible por la escultura de unos caballos que se alza a unos 6 metros de altura. Se atraviesa la plaza y se toma la tercera salida. Por esa calle se avanza unos 200 metros y se gira a la izquierda, ya al pie del Parque. Sólo hay que continuar ascendiendo girando a la derecha a unos 50 metros.
